Bionaire High Performance Stand Fan, Silver
Bionaire High Performance Stand Fan, Silver
Price: £64.99

3.0 out of 5 stars A basic fan with limited features and build quality, 26 Jun. 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The Good:
========

* The fan uses a DC motor and therefore operates much quieter than a traditional fan with an AC motor, so this is a good option for the living room or bedroom where you want to keep background noise to a minimum.
* Assembly is quick and easy, taking just 5 minutes or so without needing any tools. However, it's a bit fiddly to join together the front and back blade covers inside the rubber joining piece, so this might be easier with two pairs of hands.
* This is a lightweight and highly portable fan, making it easy to move around and suitable for use in different locations.
* The rotary control dial has a nice smooth motion and makes it easy to adjust the fan speed precisely.

The Bad:
=======

* The build quality and workmanship don't quite feel up to the high standard you would expect for a fan in this price range, so don't expect it to stand up too well to rough handling or any knocks.
* The power cable is fairly short, so you might need an extension cable if it's located too far from a wall socket.
* There are no fancy features such as a remote control, or any different modes such as a natural wind effect that you see on many other fans of a similar price.

Summary:
========

Overall, this does the basic job of a floorstanding fan fairly well, but given the price range and the limited feature set and build quality, it's nothing special and I can't justify giving it more than an okay rating of 3 stars. Time will tell if it is robust enough.

Proden PlaqueOff Cat Feline Formulation for Bad Breath, Plaque and Tartar (40g)
Proden PlaqueOff Cat Feline Formulation for Bad Breath, Plaque and Tartar (40g)

5.0 out of 5 stars A hassle-free way to keep your cat's teeth clean and avoid dental treatment, 22 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A couple of years ago, our cat (who was 11 at the time) had to be sedated for a full dental clean as she had quite bad tartar build up and sore gums. This product was recommended by our vet to keep her teeth nice and clean with minimum fuss, and to delay the need for another full clean. It's been 18 months since we started giving her a scoop of PlaqueOff with her breakfast every day, and she just had a routine health check last week. The vet was amazed at how clean her teeth were - just as good as they were after they were cleaned! She doesn't seem to even notice that we've sprinkled a tiny scoop of this powder over her breakfast and she tolerates it perfectly well. Each small pot of PlaqueOff seems to last us 4-5 months, so it's pretty cost effective, especially compared to paying the vet to sedate your cat (which is risky in itself). I can't recommend this stuff enough - if your cat needs help to keep his/her teeth clean, give this stuff a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Save energy without losing any light!, 22 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a really good energy saving strip light bulb. It's powered by LEDs so the full light is instantly available, there is no heat or flickering or buzzing, it will survive thousands of power cycles and should last for years and years without needing to be replaced. My previous 7w Strip Lamp 284mm Energy Saving Light Bulb 2700k Light Bulb completely failed after only a couple of years, and that took a minute or two to reach full brightness each time. This new LED bulb is noticeably brighter than the old one, although the light it produces has a slightly cool blue tint to it, so if you prefer a warmer light then this bulb might not be ideal.

I'm really pleased with this bulb. It puts out almost as much light as the original 60W traditional bulb but only uses 5W and should last absolutely ages. Highly recommended!

DESTINY Game Cover Men's T-Shirt, Black (TS2DWMDES-M)

5.0 out of 5 stars High quality official Destiny t-shirt for true fans!, 22 May 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you're a proud Destiny fan and want to wear something to advertise that, then this is a great t-shirt for you! It's quite a slim-fit style - the Medium size is pretty fitted on my 38" chest - but it's plenty long enough, really comfortable and looks good on. The print work is good quality and survived the first couple of washes with no problems. I'm really pleased with this t-shirt - highly recommended! My regular fireteam partner saw me wearing mine and asked for one for his birthday. Enough said.

Panasonic DMC-G7 Compact System Camera (16 MP, MOS Sensor, 14 - 42 mm Lens)
Panasonic DMC-G7 Compact System Camera (16 MP, MOS Sensor, 14 - 42 mm Lens)

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic compact DSLR suitable for both point-and-click and advanced photographers!, 18 May 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've tested my G7 in a variety of challenging situations with everything turned to fully automatic mode, just to see how well it copes without any manual inputs from me. I took loads of photos, full HD and 4K video at a "winter lights" event at the Anglesey Abbey National Trust site, shooting hand-held with only natural low light. The automatic focus and exposure coped very well and the vast majority of shots were just great with no fuss or effort from me. The lens took in enough light to avoid slow exposures and blurry shots, so I was really impressed. I also tested around the Cambridge colleges and tourist sights in very bright late Spring sunlight, with just the included lens hood to keep the glare out. Again, the fully automatic performance was really impressive and I got some great shots.

The interface and knobs/controls could potentially be a bit intimidating for complete beginners, but it's easy enough to just put everything to auto and forget about them. On the other hand, for those who like complete manual control, there are a couple more rotary knobs on the top of the body than my last DSLR had, which makes it really quick and easy to override all the main manual controls without going through any menus. The flip-out touchscreen display offers up all the other controls in a very accessible way, so this design should keep all types of user happy. I found myself using the EVF (electronic viewfinder) almost exclusively in bright sunlight, which turns itself on as soon as a sensor detects you're trying to look through it. Having come from an old-school DSLR with optical viewfinder, this felt like a real upgrade once I got used to it - I would never want to go back now!

I don't have a 4K TV so the ability to take 4K video is not a big deal for me. I did try it just out of curiousity; other than noticing the battery drains quicker and the memory card fills up scarily fast, it worked just as well as with standard HD footage. I also haven't spent much time with the "post focus" feature (available following the v2.0 firmware upgrade from Panasonic), since part of the fun of trying to take good photos for me is getting everything right at the split second you press the button! However, I can see this being a real miracle worker for those occasions where there's no second chance to get a good shot, like a wedding or sports event. The fact that this is even available on consumer kit now is really amazing.

The included 14-42mm Panasonic kit lens produces great wide angle shots but obviously doesn't offer a very high zoom level. My previous DSLR came with an 18-55mm kit lens, which is hardly much better, so this isn't really a big issue. You should probably budget for a separate telephoto zoom lens if you need a better zoom capability than that.

Having lived with it for a few months, I think this camera should particularly appeal to 3 different types of photographer:

- those who want really good quality photos/video but don't want to carry round a bulky heavy DSLR or learn loads of complex instructions
- those who want a flexible DSLR that works great with everything turned to "auto" but also offers complete control over every possible manual setting
- those early adopters who want the ability to shoot video in 4K resolution through a very nice lens without spending a fortune or buying a dedicated video camera

This is my first Panasonic camera (compact or DSLR) and I must say I'm really impressed. Everything feels solid in the hands and very well designed. The controls are logical and well laid out, the features are really pushing the capabilities of consumer grade cameras, and for me this would make a very wise investment at this price point. I don't feel I'm missing out by not having the Canon or Nikon equivalent body. Well done Panasonic - I have no real complaints so it's the full 5 stars from me!

Recommended Accessories:

I am using the following accessories with my G7:

* Original ChiliPower DMW-BLC12, DMW-BLC12E, DMW-BLC12PP 1300mAh Battery for Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200, DMC-G5, DMC-G6, DMC-G6K, DMC-GH2
* Hoya 46mm PRO-1 Digital UV Screw-in Filter
* Transcend 64GB SDXC UHS Ultra High Speed Class 3 Memory Card
* Lowepro SlingShot 102 AW Photo Sling Pack

Medisana Number BU 550 Connect Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Bluetooth
Medisana Number BU 550 Connect Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor with Bluetooth
Price: £57.58

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy and effective BP monitor which makes it easy to record and track your data, 16 May 2016
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This is a very easy to use and effective blood pressure monitor. It comes with everything you need to get started, including a 22-42cm arm cuff, some batteries, and a nice soft storage case. I only have skinny arms and the cuff is almost too big for me, so very slim arms may struggle a bit. The set-up process is quick and easy: you just need to enter the date and time (so they can be recorded with each reading) and set up a user memory slot. It supports up to 2 users at once, or you can just use the "Guest" mode to take readings without recording them permanently. It stores up to 500 results per user, and these are automatically synced with your VitaDock+ app if you have connected a compatible Bluetooth mobile device.

The measurements seem to be pretty accurate and consistent when compared with my Omron M3 monitor. The Medisana is perhaps slightly slower to take its readings, but it's quiet and smooth and it seems to squeeze the arm slightly less at its maximum pressure, so I have no complaints at all.

I see that several other reviewers had issues with either the Bluetooth connection to their mobile device or the VitaDock+ app, but I had no problems at all pairing this device with my Samsung Galaxy S5 and syncing the measurements. I registered for a free VitaDock Online account and now all my readings automatically appear on the VitaDock+ website, which is a great way to see the full history of all your readings with all the averages worked out and the trends shown in nice graphs. If you plan to discuss any issues with your GP, this would be a great way to show how your blood pressure has been over the last few weeks or months.

If you don't have a suitable mobile device to run the VitaDock+ app, the Medisana is still really good on its own. You can look back through the history of readings for each user on the built-in screen and it shows the calculated averages for you, so you can still get a good picture of your recent measurements without using the app. The device only has 3 buttons and the interface is a little bit clunky, so things like deleting readings is a bit painful (holding down a button for 7 seconds is a bit basic!) but it's still perfectly usable.

Overall, this is an above average device which is well made and comes with a 3 year warranty and everything you need to monitor your blood pressure. The Bluetooth connectivity is a nice bonus feature and the companion app makes it easy to review your recent history with a medical professional. There's very little to complain about really, other than the slightly clunky interface, so it gets the full 5 stars from me.

MP power @ Wireless Bluetooth 3.5mm AUX Audio Stereo Music Home Car Receiver Adapter unlimited music mobile tablet laptop PSP office car
MP power @ Wireless Bluetooth 3.5mm AUX Audio Stereo Music Home Car Receiver Adapter unlimited music mobile tablet laptop PSP office car
Offered by electronic-PRO
Price: £8.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Convert your old headphones/speakers/HiFi to wireless in a few easy seconds!, 21 Jan. 2016
Positives:
=======

- The device is very compact and lightweight and can easily be carried in a small pocket/bag. The rubberised coating makes it easy to grip, even with cold/wet fingers.
- It is VERY simple to use. There's only one button (used to pair to other Bluetooth devices and to answer phone calls) and one 3.5mm stereo audio socket.
- Can be used as a hands-free phone device and features a built-in mic.
- The built-in rechargeable Lithium Ion battery offers up to 8 hours of usage on a full charge; charging only takes 2-3 hours and can be done from any USB socket using the supplied micro USB cable.
- Sound quality is good. They claim a frequency response of 20Hz-15KHz, which is pretty good (although you're missing some of the very top end frequencies which might be noticeable with decent speakers/headphones). Good quality compressed music sounds nice and clear and fairly neutral.
- A 3.5mm male jack to male jack adapter is provided, making it dead easy to connect this to the "Aux In" or "Line In" socket on any standard audio equipment.
- You can plug standard headphones straight into this receiver and it works fine, although the battery life is then reduced slightly as the receiver is then working as a headphone amp as well as a Bluetooth device.

Issues:
======

- There is a quiet but just noticeable background hiss when listening to music. This is not uncommon with Bluetooth devices (which use radio signals to connect to each other), but it's slightly more noticeable than some other similar devices I have tried in the past. You can also hear a slight clicking noise when you change tracks on your music player, but this is not a big deal.
- The manual is not very clear at all. It looks like a poor translation into English. If you've used this kind of device before or you're comfortable with technology, you shouldn't have any problems working it out.
- The lightweight plastic casing does not feel like it will stand up to much abuse or any accidents, but it should be fine for daily use if you take a little care.

Summary:
======

This Bluetooth receiver just works! It only took a few seconds to pair with my Sony Xperia Z3 8-inch Tablet Compact and I could immediately play nice sounding music using the Google Play Music app. At such a low price, this is an audio bargain. If you need to convert old headphones/speakers/HiFi equipment or your car's audio system to wireless, this is an easy and inexpensive way to do it. Highly recommended - 5 stars from me.

NOTE: the Amazon seller "electronic-PRO" (MONDPALAST) sent me a free sample and asked me to write an honest unbiased review of this product.

MOTHERS 156000 Contoured Tyre Brush
MOTHERS 156000 Contoured Tyre Brush
Price: £12.06

4.0 out of 5 stars An effective tyre brush that still works with low profile tyres, 13 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This tyre brush has become an essential part of my car cleaning method. First, I spray the tyres with Bilt Hamber Surfex HD diluted to around 3%-5% concentration, then I give them a good brush with this Mothers Tyre Brush in a circular motion around the tyre, taking care to avoid contact with the wheel itself to prevent any scratches on the clear coat. Then I rinse with a spray of clean water and finish off with a suitable tyre dressing such as Autoglym 500ml Instant Tyre Dressing or Auto Finesse SAT500 Satin Tyre Gel. The brush gets into all the little ridges/gaps in the tyre surface, and in between the tyre and the wheel rim where are the mud and dirt seems to hide.

This brush is meant to be used at a right-angle to the tyre, as it has a slightly contoured shape to fit the bulge of the sidewall perfectly. However, I have low profile sports tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport 3 225/40 ZR 18) so I actually use the brush held parallel to the tyre, and then it is almost exactly the same height as my tyres and works just fine. It is comfortable to hold and the non-slip handle coating works very well. The rubber "bumper" around the edges of the brush head protect your wheel from any damage if you slip, and the bristles themselves are nice and soft.

I have lost a few small clumps of bristles after 6 months of weekly use, which I think is to be expected. I do feel this is slightly expensive for a plastic brush, but Mothers make good cleaning equipment and I think the quality of this brush is good enough to justify the price. Given how much I use this brush, I would really struggle without it and recommend it to you.

MOTHERS 156200 Detailing Brushes, Set of 2
MOTHERS 156200 Detailing Brushes, Set of 2
Price: £9.35

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for removing excess polish/wax from between panels and cleaning around fiddly shapes, 13 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I find these brushes very useful for removing excess polish (or polish dust) and paste wax that has accidentally been pushed down between body panels or between a panel and trim making it hard to get out. I also use them for cleaning around fiddly shapes such as the maker's badge/lettering and plastic lights. The bristles are a bit stiffer than you would like when the brushes are brand new, but they soon soften up with use. As per the instructions, I strongly recommend that you pre-spray the area you intend to brush first with a suitable lubricating fluid such as detailing spray or waterless wash, to minimise the risk of scratches.

These brushes are well made and haven't lost any bristles after several months of regular use. The handles are made of robust plastic coated with rubberised grips and are easy and comfortable to hold, even with wet hands. There is a thin chisel-shaped tip to the rubber handle coating which can be used to squeeze into narrow gaps without risk of scratching, which may prove useful (although I haven't really used mine!).

Mothers make good quality cleaning brushes and equipment and these brushes are no different. They're a really useful addition to your car cleaning bag and come highly recommended.

MOTHERS 155700 Wheel/ Rim Cleaning Brush
MOTHERS 155700 Wheel/ Rim Cleaning Brush
Price: £12.55

5.0 out of 5 stars A versatile cleaning brush that doesn't scratch - perfect for grilles as well as wheels!, 5 Jan. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This a great wheel brush from MOTHERS. It's very well made (it doesn't seem to have lost any bristles yet after 6 months of regular use) and the protective rubber "bumper" and soft flexible bristles prevent any scratches. Although it's ideal for cleaning delicate wheel finishes such as diamond cut and can also be used to clean the arches, I actually use mine for cleaning my car's upper and lower plastic honeycomb grilles, which get pretty dirty and would otherwise be really tricky to clean. In the summer months I pre-spray with waterless wash or detailer and then brush out the dirt, and in the winter I do a snow foam pre-wash and then thoroughly soak with shampoo before brushing. This brush gets into all the small gaps and doesn't seem to mark or scratch at all. What a great versatile cleaning brush - highly recommended!
