5.0 out of 5 stars Great Entertainment, 24 Oct 2014

I don't care what any of the negative reviews say, this really is a great slice of entertainment.

The test for me came the other day when I received my bluray and watched this with friends who had not seen it. All of them without fail were totally impressed with the way Pompeii itself was recreated (the attention to detail is stunning), the gladiator battles in the arena and, not just the CGI when the volcano erupts, but the chaos that inevitably follows. They found it absorbing and entertaining.

One other thing worthy of note is the soundtrack by Clinton Shorter (of District 9 fame). He has composed a completely sympathetic and absorbing piece which, like all great soundtracks, complements the movie perfectly. The final eruption and the music that follows need to be turned up very loud. What follows that is stunning.....

This film deserved to do much better than it did and deserves to be in your collection.

Put your feet up, turn up that surround sound, get your popcorn and enjoy!

This feels like the song I've waited to hear since I first loved Simple Minds in the very early 80's. This song has depth, a pumping bass and beautiful guitar work from Charlie Burchill as usual. A touch of class from Simple Minds. Who would have thought that 35 years into their careers the guys would still be writing relevant music like this. Download and enjoy!

I just caught this at the end of Sky's flawless (as always) coverage of the England vs New Zealand one day match. Great tune, catchy, fresh, perfect for the summer. Let's hope this takes off. Deserves to be a massive hit.

This song deserves to be such a big hit. The best from both artists combining in a joyous way. Susanne's voice is incredible and lends itself beautifully to Röyksopp's wonderfully understated and unique electronica. Check this out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great action picture, 10 Mar 2013
I went to see this film at the cinema with some trepidation after the lifeless Afterlife installment which I really wanted to love but just ended loving little segments of. This film, however, kept me engaged from start to finish. The action never lets up and there is a purpose behind everything that goes on. RE5 film looks amazing on blu-ray and it is highly recommended. Please do not listen to the Anderson haters, just enjoy it for what it is - a great action film which keeps you hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 of the very best, 28 Nov 2012

This is one of the best live recordings I have heard for many years. Far better than Live In The City of Light in my opinion.

For those that have followed the band since the beginning, the albums that these songs come from are so important. Songs like I Travel, Love Song, Theme for Great Cities, New Gold Dream, The American, Chelsea Girl (and the list goes on) were moments in time that could never be repeated - until now. The quality of these recordings, Jim Kerr's vocals and Charlie Burchill's glorious guitar playing take you right back to when the band were at their creative best.

I'm not one of those who then want to slate everything they have done since these five amazing albums - I think it was just a case of the bar being set so high that they were always on a hiding to nothing if they tried to branch out to a different style. I have loved many songs from all their albums but have to concede that there is something so special about the band's early career that this is a chance to be a part of post-punk, creative new wave genius that is too good to pass up.

Whatever anyone may think of Simple Minds then, in the mid 80's and since, they have always been one of the best live bands. There is always such excitement when hearing them live. This amazing set (and such good value) proves that they have lost none of their live genius and I would strongly urge the uninitiated to pick up a piece of new wave history to see why a band who have been around for over 30 years, chose to undertake a tour showcasing their first five albums earlier this year.

Absolute quality from the opening bar to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical Christmas, 16 Nov 2012

This has to be the best Christmas song ever. A beautiful re-working of one of the best known carols which was criminally overlooked when it was originally released in the early 80s. Cliff's other Christmas singles (as good as they were of their time) are not a patch on this which still sounds as fresh as the day it was released as a single. Great orchestration, Cliff's voice and choirs combine to give a spine-tingling performance. One to listen to while you're enjoying the festivities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Matt on Fire!, 2 Nov 2012

What an album.

This album (more than Letters) showcases Matt's songwriting and vocal talents. Released from the shackles of the X-Factor machine, Matt has delivered a fantastic album that deserves repeat listens. Water is the standout track for me. It is full of raw emotion. All the way through, the lyrics are strong, the performances tight and Matt's voice is incredible. You will fall in love again with that effortless falsetto. The big bonus for me was that this includes The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Isn't that perhaps the reason why we all fell in love with him in the first place?

A MUST purchase even if you only have a passing interest.
