5.0 out of 5 stars Great product., 3 April 2015

It is exactly as advertised on Amazon. It was easy to assemble (a seven year old could do it less that two minutes) I downloaded the software to my MAC (running OS X Yosemite, does not have a CD reader) from the Celestron website with no issues whatsoever. it gives clear, sharp, easy to focus full screen images (my MAC has a 27 inch monitor) and takes crisp photos that are easy to manage.
I have used it to photograph mites and rust from my garden vegetables and flowers. It also was very useful in removing a splinter from my finger.

Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us
Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us
by Michael Moss

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is good for your health, 22 Feb. 2015

The book is decided into 3 roughly equal sections dressing the salt, sugar, and fat in processed foods. It is very well researched and extensively documented (fully indexed with a bibliography for further reading, hundreds of notes on references, and extensive sources provided). This guy knows what he is talking about and he tells it straight and fair.
It is cock full of gems like:
Finland reduced it's salt intake by one third and reduced deaths from strokes and heart disease by 80% (p302).
The USDA recomends that 7 % of calories come from FAT; the US ave is 12%. (p155)
Manufactures of process foods have been creating a desire for salt where none existed before" (p279)
But it is even more than just facts; it is interesting and at points fascinating enough to make it an enjoyable read. I read this book in the same time that I spend on a similar sized thriller.
Finally: Did you know that: "Every 1.7 box of processed meats consumed per day increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 21% ? See page 230

Clean, solid and functional.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than ever, 21 Dec. 2014

This is a great product well designed to securely fit a pot. Rosle did not skimp on the quality or the amount of stainless steel in putting this food mill together.
Looks good, has a solid feel to it without being too bulky; nice balance, and it works great.
My wife finally worked her old one (a different brand) to death and wanted an exact replacement, we spent about six months going to flea markets trying to find one just like it (wife says "they do not make them like they used to") before I ordered a Role from Amazon: Report that the Rosle was acutally better than "they used to make them".

5.0 out of 5 stars Puzzel within a puzzel wrapped in an enigma, 26 Aug. 2014

This review is from: Godel, Escher, Bach (Paperback)
A book that I would recommend to serious thinkers who like to think for fun. The book melds salient points of music, art, and mathematics in exploring what distinguishes homo sapiens as a species.
The people at MIT thought enough of the book to offer a free online, course as an aid in understanding the it.
I gave it four stars on the recommendation of my closest and most respected friend. He gave me a copy and was very disappointed when I finally told him that I couldn't get int it. Tony died years ago, now I am trying to get into it again, mostly in his memory; I still am finding the book incomprehensible.
I wonder if Winston Churchill would have enjoyed it.

Terminal City (Alexandra Cooper)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fairstein Delivers, Consistently., 18 Aug. 2014

Another Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cooper detective thriller.
The Alexandra Cooper series are contemporary, based in Manhattan, intersperced with many little known anecdotes about the City of New York, mostly Manhattan. They feature humour, humanity, suspense and drama, with a decided up beat flair; not dwelling on the gory details of the streets.
My favorite was Final Jeopardy, this one was still a fun read.
Am looking forward to her next.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Qualified Candidate by far so far, 13 July 2014

This review is from: Hard Choices (Hardcover)
Great book, very well written.
I judge the book not against my political beliefs or assessment of her public and political performance, but rather, against its salient objective, which is to sell Hillary Clinton: For this I give it 5 stars.
The book is divided into six parts each covering a geographic segment of her 4-year tenure as US Secretary of State. The six parts consist of chapters (on average 4) detailing the background and history of some of the political problems that she faced and the hard decisions that were called for.
My impression is that it is a fair and honest accounting with only one glaring mistake (p212, Hillary if you are reading this: NATO stretches east not from the Baltics (sic), but from Turkey, to Alaska.. ). It is evident from the writing style that she relied on ghostwriters to flesh out some of the details to what she acknowledges as her "scribbles". However none of this detracts in the slightest from and interesting, informative, and fun read.
That I, an avid reader of thrillers (Gresham, Michael Connolly, Fairstein), read the whole 600 plus pages says something. Some parts actually read like a thriller; batted breath and all.
What the book does not do is mention the oil industry, which arguably has controlled much of the world's politics since the end of WWII, nor the staggering power that the lobbies exert in Washington. So, as the dust jacket says, it is "a memoir" and that is just what I found it to be.

4.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but worth it., 18 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The product gives great colour photos in daylight and very good black and white photos in complete darkness. However when the light is marginal (late dusk and predawn) the photos come out over exposed, (this includes indoor shots if you are considering using it as an indoors security devise). Other than that it met my fullest expectations.
It is very easy to program the various functions, downloading the photo is fully automatic on my MAC, and the depth of field, focus, and colour in daylight is outstanding (like looking out your window). It has survived several down pours, as well as being left out in full sunlight all day to the point where the case got hot. I was able to adjust the sensitivity to the point where it picked up my neighbour's cat at 35 metes yet did not give false triggers when the wind blew through the shrubbery.
Great product.
