The 7 Deadly Innocent Frauds of Economic Policy
The 7 Deadly Innocent Frauds of Economic Policy
Price: £0.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Blows your mind!, 2 Feb. 2014

The book focuses very much on trying to develop a theory of fiat money. While some of the points of this book, especially the discussion on repo's and overnight rates lacks proper context, the book itself manages to be fairly great due to the way content is presented. Where views of interest to many are cited and then debunked(perhaps not perfectly convincingly). Its a fun read and very iconoclastic.

2.0 out of 5 stars Compilation of essays which fails to discuss the key subject matters, 2 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Its probably the fault of newspapers in general where they try and retain a broad audience that removes any sense of cost-benefit analysis from this book. I was hoping for some more history of different policies enacted by various politicians and the effect of EU budget on the UK and perhaps more generally economic theory that is relevant for this subject matter. I got none of that and its mostly just people talking about their opinions.

If Greece goes...: The impact of a Greek default on Europe and the world economy
If Greece goes...: The impact of a Greek default on Europe and the world economy

2.0 out of 5 stars Compilation of essays with no overarching coherence, 2 Feb. 2014

I don't mind very much when a book is just lots of essays as long as they develop a point or explore different aspects of a subject matter but I can honestly say that I've learned nothing in this book about the consequences of a Grexit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for all, 2 Feb. 2014

Psychology, economics, policy making are all in this book, and none of it is written in an alienating manner. Very clear cut explanation of concepts. I particularly like that every chapter ends with some conversation points which tell you how to discuss what you just learned. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Logitech OEM PC 860 Stereo Headset

3.0 out of 5 stars Good piece of equipment, 2 Feb. 2014

I've been using this headset for about 3 years now and its more attractive element is its price. I've often had problems with the sound, one I'd say after the first year one of the speakers stopped working consistently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great writer, rigorous and accessible., 2 Feb. 2014

Perhaps if I didn't love Krugman's prose before this book, I love it now, he is a very competent writer with a whole lot of attitude and some great metaphor to try and have you understand what he means. I am not sure if buy into his view completely but he does a great job giving you all the tools you might need to combat austerity hawks you meet in your way..

4.0 out of 5 stars Overtly repettive, 2 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is very repetitive, he probably repeats his point over 50 times and makes a very good case for it too. Though perhaps he reveres this theory excessively as if having solved all the problems between macroeconomics. Nonetheless good book with good evidence of the theory and then explanation of why it matter in economic debates.

Soros know his stuff when it comes to derivatives so its interesting to read those passages its just a shame he only gives his views and not a whole lot on their roots.

Paper Money Collapse: The Folly of Elastic Money and the Coming Monetary Breakdown

4.0 out of 5 stars Rather extreme views but it awaked an interest in money matter in me like no other book ever did., 2 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Much of this book is derivate of MIses theory of money and credit but in a much more accessible manner. Anyone who has tried to read the latter probably knows how technical it becomes and so I would recommend this book for those with an elementary understanding of the economy already but wanting to delve deeper into some monetary theory, not because I think the views expressed are correct but because they are intriguing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chess for the quick and nimble., 2 Feb. 2014

A strategy game like no other, StarCraft 2 expansion improves upon an already powerful engine by introducing an even higher skill cap. Though its hard to recommend this game to those who don't think they will be able to dedicate a good amount of time to it.
