4.0 out of 5 stars impressive, 28 Oct. 2001
the dvd starts off with the legendary satriani and his title is understandable with amazing performances like flyin in a blue dream in which he shows blistering speed before giving the best use of power chords known to man.
Next up is eric johnson who despite being slightly to jazzy for every die hard rock fanatic is admirable in his widdly diddliness.
And last but not least we have steve vai who from the start proves that whilst being an excellent musician is completely and utterly insane (just watch how he ends his solo in goin' down)
the final 3 songs are a joy, especially goin' down and my guitar wants to kill yo mama.
however i have some complaints:
.its not very long
.some songs shouldnt have been there (cool no9)
.the bassists shirt is a spangly number that i feel degrades the performance's look
on the whole though it is very enjoyable over and over agian

4.0 out of 5 stars very good, 27 Oct. 2001
i found this dvd to be joy to watch because after being a devout follower of their work it lovely to be nosy and have a good look at who made it and how. From the strange-talkin lars, suspicious conserved james, shy demoralized jason(very interseting in his clearly depressed description of his pride and joy:my friend of misery and how it did not turn out like he wanted) and the downright camp kirk. Also wonderfully captured on film is the friction between the members which apparently contributes to the record and the childish pranks and methods of embarrassment used on an unfortunate randy who mixed the whole record.insightfull and often amusing

5.0 out of 5 stars we met across a crowded video rental shop..................., 24 Oct. 2001
whilst aimlessly wandering around a video rental shop a friend of mine spotted the object of this review at the very bottom of the pile of budjet dvd's and i wandered over at first aprehensive as the film obviously had no propaganda because neither i,my friend or the woman at the counter had a clue as to what it was.The only reason i bought the film was three specific words on the back of the box and i quote 'huge japanese swords'.So with apprehension i whacked it in my player however when i whacked it back out again ninety odd minutes later i sat dumbfounded and needed to be beaten out of the comatose state this absolutly incredible action movie had put me in.Do yourself a favor - buy this film NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant work from this most brilliant of musicians, 23 Oct. 2001
This review is from: The Extremist (Audio CD)
an absolutely incredible record, this record covers much of the spectrum of instrumental rock with the strong, heavy title track, light and cheerful friends and the absolutly sublime, emotive and moving Rubina's blue sky happiness. From a guitarists point of view one has to gape openly at the incredible tone, speed and style shown by one of the best guitarists ever to grace us with his presence.I can say all this and more because i am listening to the record right now.If you are interested in instrumental rock, this album is a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars OH MY GOD, 25 May 2001
This review is from: Master Of Puppets (Audio CD)
this album is utterly superb.the standard of music in this and the previous album (rtl) just go to prove that these are not just a normal metal band that will have one good song per album these boys have eight. For the head-bangers there is battery and the thing that should not be and for those who enjoy beautiful guitaring there is sanitarium, orion and the title track. This album like the rest of their material is not noise but intelligently written and symphonic excellence on a cd.Bow your head in shame if you dont have this and are serious about metal or heavy rock because this is one of the best so BUY IT!!!!!!!!!
