5.0 out of 5 stars For the price these are pretty incredible., 28 Dec. 2015

The midrange sounds are clear, rather than sounding muddy like many cheaper sound systems, while the bass is great at accentuating songs rather than overwhelming the rest of it. It comes in a neat, sleek form-factor with a small footprint and really handy audio controls in the form of a little wheel with a headphone jack for easy access. Totally, wholeheartedly recommend these.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great entry level mech, 22 Dec. 2015
This is a great entry level mechanical keyboard. The layout is 75%, as it has the width of a 60% but with a full function row, and the keys in this one are legit Cherry MX switches. In others, they use Noppoo branded Cherry MX clones, which are almost as good, but with a shorter life expectancy due to the lack of gold contacts and the lack of precision German engineering that Cherry affords their switches.

Beyond the great mechanics of the keyboard there are only little irksome things. The first is the font, which is okay as individual letters, but with awful kerning on the words. The second is that Noppoo decided to put an adapted Apple lightning connector as the main way to power it, and which does not work with any Apple branded lightning cables. It may work with unbranded ones, but I cannot confirm this. What this means, though, is that if your cable breaks, you're kinda out of luck.

Bringing it back to the switches, the ones in this are MX reds, which means that they're quite 'light', in that they take the least amount of pressure to register a key press (or actuation), which makes them good for gaming - however I've also found they're really good for typing on.

So, whether you're in the market for a mechanical keyboard because of your passion for gaming or writing, this keyboard is priced highly enough that you're guaranteed quality but not priced so cheaply that it fails soon after purchase.

I was apprehensive after the tens of one star reviews which decried purchasing this, but I went ahead and did so anyway given the small price tag (especially when put next to the Speck case!).

The product does everything it says it does, and it fits my 2015 rMBP perfectly. One minor niggle is that the bottom panel protrudes ever so slightly rubs on your wrists when lying down in bed with it.

In terms of design, minus the sharp lip, it does feel and look cheap, but I'm happy with it, as it's meant to protect my Macbook first and foremost, and for the price I knew what I was getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leather bag of wonder and green cotton, 28 Jun. 2015

First impressions: excellent colouration of the leather, which is a deep brown, and it is as spacious as I expected it to be. You can get an A4 ring binder in it, but it is a bit of a squeeze. Fits my 13" Retina Macbook Pro with neoprene sleeve quite snugly around the edges, but is deep enough to hold plenty more things like notebooks and newspapers. It is quite pungent when first out of the bag, but it's not a bad smell. Their website says this will wear off in day to day use. The only downside of this I can see (but not worth a star reduction) is the thickness of the leather strap, which is far too thin for carrying everything it claims it can carry! However, being a unique product, I can understand that this might not be par for the course.

I suspect that, due to the price, they either 'fell off the back of a lorry' or are sold directly from the factory, undercutting the Apple margins. If Apple themselves are selling these at a heavily reduced price, then kudos to them! These have a great, rich sound quality to them, and lack that annoying rubberised cord that others I own have.

Hilarious, witty, trippy, and subversive; Barthelme's Sixty Stories is an incredibly fun read, and one that will render you a chuckling, dribbling moron.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Basics Neoprene Sleve, 28 Jun. 2015

For the price, the padding is pretty hefty, the zip never touches the computer because of the lining, and the straight black colour is striking. It does smell like a wetsuit, so if you have some unresolved trauma from sailing (see: capsizing) as a youngster then you may want to run it through the washing machine on a low heat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do it (not in the Judas Priest sense), 15 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having come from a long line of cheap Windows computers I invested in a computer which would both hold its value and be a workhorse for at least the next six years, simply because, over the past three years, with each successive Windows computer that has failed or has slowed down to being unusable (despite being looked after well - oiled before showers, powdered down every night, massaged RAM), in total I have spent slightly more than the cost of this Macbook. In this regard it is not only financially more viable to invest in one of these in the medium to long term - providing you have the means to front that amount of cash in the short term - but it also is far more environmentally friendly.

I hear you mention that a similarly priced Windows computer would provide the same sort of longevity and environmental friendliness at a lower cost, but another, pretty major caveat is the resell value which a competitor simply cannot match. 2013 models regularly fetch above £600 on sites like Ebay, whereas 2014 models get almost 80% of their original price. Even the ones almost a decade old now fetch more than 10% of the current price of a 2015 model. So bear this in mind if reselling is something you might consider in the future.

As for the performance, it runs far better than anything else I've ever used, and it looks incredible doing it. It's got a long battery life, a great screen, a fair whack of power, a super new force click trackpad (the uses of which are currently limited but has potential), and an excellent keyboard. I've had no problems with the software (Yosemite), but there are plenty of others who have, and these are well recorded, and should receive fixes in the future.

HP Chromebook 11

2.0 out of 5 stars It's probably not worth it., 16 Dec. 2014
No matter how much you want a cheap computer, this should not be it.

For the first few weeks after buying it in-store (PC World) I noticed that the screen wouldn't be as quick to turn on as it used to. Eventually, it took several reboots to get the screen to start working again, and then, roughly two months later, it refused to boot up at all. As a student I needed it for work, so obviously couldn't spare the +two week repair time, so I opted to reset the PSU... or something. Anyway, I pulled a plug inside the machine, a la a Youtube video, and it worked (I recommend sending yours off for repair if this happens - I was up against it so I needed it ASAP, and besides, it was knackered anyway so I didn't really have anything to lose). It's now working with a few random screen flickers here and there, and occasionally the screen shuts down mid-essay. From other reviews, this isn't an uncommon problem. However, I can't give it one star because the screen is sharp and has excellent viewing angles, and the keyboard is fantastic.

So yeah, go get the new HP Stream 11 (I hear the keyboard from this one carried over to that) or the Dell Chromebook 11 if you want something cheap, this really isn't worth the faff.

The prose is beautiful, at times precise in its imagery, but at times verging on the neologism and nonsense. The form is tedious after a while, and you will have to read it again to understand the plot (and then again to remember it), not only this but the rotating gets really annoying. It was novel in House of Leaves because it was sparse, although I guess I should have known what I was getting into with a title like this...
