True Ghost Stories from WWI & WWII
True Ghost Stories from WWI & WWII

Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, 19 May 2010
I bought this book a while ago in a National Trust place. It turned out to be quite a good read, and I was hooked on one story in particular: The Secrets of the Regenswurmlager (Earth Worm Lair). I became so obsessed with it, that I actually contacted Paul Stonehill, and funnily enough, he was unaware of the use of his material, so I am unsure of the legality of this book!

So, if you buy this book, make sure to read the one on the Regenswurmlager, as it is captivating (like something out of Indiana Jones). If you are interested in this, there are plenty of Polish websites out there, just use Google Translate or something.

So, 5/5 stars for a book which left me obsessed with a secret Nazi bunker!

Dante's Inferno [Explicit]
Dante's Inferno [Explicit]
Price: £1.89

5.0 out of 5 stars Dante's Inferno is brilliant!, 5 Mar 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The price of the song is quite steep, but when you consider that it is fact 16 minutes long, it is well worth it. Shaffer uses description lovingly, and creates a masterpiece, worthy of Dante Alighieri himself. It captures the evil of the poem nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 4 Feb 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The journal arrived in better condition than I imagined it to. It was packaged incredibly well in a tough layer of cardboard, and didn't look like it had been 'cobbled together' (like a few other items I bought).
Firstly, the most noticeable feature is obviously the golden ambigram on the cover. Let me tell you now that the pictures do not do it justice, as the gold of it is so striking. Secondly, the pages are trimmed in gold, and the spacings between the lines are just right. The cover is real leather, and the smell is just fantastic. The journal does feel very durable, and it is well worth parting with such little money for.

Once I have filled this one up, I believe that I will buy another one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 24 Jan 2010
I did not buy this book from Amazon, but I did buy the book nonetheless, and I found it to be a superb read! There are a few issues to do with racism, but if you 'gloss over' these, the book(s) becomes a masterpiece, and I recommend them to anybody! In fact, I have done, and I haven't heard about them since, testimony to the book's 'gripping' power.

All in All, I would give this book 10 stars, but unfortunately 5 is the maximum.

BUY THIS BOOK - NOW!!

this product is a great, much needed purchase, as my standard one broke (in fact, it frayed near the connector, so I'd watch out for this.) The picture is misleading, however; you do in fact get the plug end with it as well! (so now I have 2 plug - end - bits floating around.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Bible...., 9 Jun 2009
To be honest, my title is a bit misleading. Anything by McNab is better than the Bible. In fact, ANYTHING full stop is better than the Bible.

But I digress; the book is a better than average read, however, I could not seem to 'get into' the book as well as the others in the series. For me, the book lacked the amount of dark (and often black) humour that was present in the earlier books, such as 'Remote Control' or 'Aggressor'.

Another point to make is the sizing of the book. It is the same thickness as 'Recoil' and 'Aggressor' but isn't as tall and as wide as the aforementioned books. Maybe it is this that meant I could not 'get into the book', as it lacked as much detail as the previous two books.

One last point to make is about the cover. It reminds me of the old 'Bravo Two Zero' cover, of which I wasn't too fond of, as it seemed too cheesey. This last point, however, is just me being pedantic. The book itself is an adequate read, and is big enough to get into hand luggage on a plane, and not take up too much room.

I do recommend this book, but fans of McNabs work, don't expect a masterpiece.
