A great and fascinating tale - and all based on fact too. An excellent read; highly recommended.

Another winner. This author just gets better and better. His unlikely and unusual hero is a joy, the supporting cast add to the joy, the plot is a page turner and yet regularly does not go where you expect. It is, like all his books, a thoroughly good read (I pre-ordered this in hardback in the belief that it would be worth it and, as ever, it was). But it is the writing that makes it - the quirky style and descriptions that just submerge the reader in the world created is a constant delight.
Highly recommended. Buy one of his books and you will want to read them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delight, 20 Jun 2014

Loving her newspaper writing I bought this at once - it's a delight, funny, sometimes shocking - did she really do that? - but ultimately uplifting as it ends on a high note with life looking up. If she becomes a best-selling author, which she deserves to (the book is beautifully written), that will be well deserved. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great, 11 May 2014

I read a lot of popular science books and this is literally one of the best ever. Well written, the descriptions are fresh and, for me at least, cast new light on complex concepts. It can't explain reality, of course, but its review of what is understood and current theories is superb. And all done in a unique way that merges explanation and autobiography. Very, very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the one, 1 Nov 2013
This guide, by a writer and publisher whose expertise shines out of every page, is spot on. Easy to read, offering sound advice and just the job also to give you the confidence to get on and write your novel and make it one that stands a good chance of being published. Simply excellent.

Like many I found Blue Remembered Earth disappointing, but it did set things up for this - which is a proper hard sf read. I enjoyed it and will continue to put this author on my must read list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracker, 3 Oct 2013

I do not know how this author keeps the standard so high; I rate all his books highly. This ends his trilogy set in the solar system brilliantly, pulling the threads together and providing a satisfying conclusion. But it's the detail I love. He writes well, his descriptions are startling and it makes for much more than just a page-turning read. Very much recommended.

Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars A real find, 30 Sep 2013
It is a mystery to me why this excellent author is not better known in UK. He writes cracking thrillers, real page turners, and they are made by really good writing - the descriptions of both people and events are a treat. This series is set in Thailand, all good, this one of the best. Once you read one you will want to read all this author's output. Highly, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful, 26 Sep 2013
Marketing is a broad subject, much misunderstood and which can be difficult to get to grips with. This short book encapsulates its subject well and does so in a practical way, there's lots here to actually use. If you want a brief, but practical introduction to the basics this works well - if you want more detail try my book "Marketing: a guide to the fundamentals" published by The Economist! As the author of many books on business matters perhaps I should just add - I wish I had done this one! Highly recommended ... Patrick Forsyth

This review is from: What In God's Name (Paperback)
I can't understand the mixed reviews this seems to have. I reckon it's a real find - a joy; it made me laugh out loud and I loved the way it was done - clever, sharp and original. Highly recommended!
