5.0 out of 5 stars Time for something different!, 27 Aug. 2015

I was in hospital looking for something 'lite' to read and was taken by the title more than anything as it accurately described my state of mind at that time!

What a blindingly good choice! Well written intelligent comedy and not put downable, with the added bonus of there being further books to read (in the six weeks convalescence now forced upon me!).

There is always the risk (when reading the second work from a new author) that the rhythm established in the first book will 'flag' and the plot lost.
However, I am pleased to say that this is certainly not the case in the second part of the Hiraeth trilogy by Liz Riley -Jones. Unusually, the end of the first novel (Hiraeth: a Marc) left the reader with an essence of deep foreboding which has been seamlessly carried forward into volume 2.
The plot twists and turns but carries the reader along in the same urgency as
the first book, you are left at the end of volume 2 with a desperate need to read volume 3!

A new author, Liz Riley Jones, has produced an unusual story line, but a damn good read. Can't wait for the next volume!
Excellent!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Here Bay was never like this..!, 19 Oct. 2013

Many holidays were spent with my parents in Herne Bay (Kent), the only highlight being Punch and Judy by the pier.
Taking the doings of Mr Punch as a lead, adding magic, the Met and mayhem this author has hit on a 'mother Lode' of a storyline.
More of the same please.

I am running out of superlatives for this author. As with her other books, the story is written with a heady mix of supernatural beings, intrigue , deceit, sex and the most glorious tongue in cheek humour.

Needless to say you have to read the other books to get a grip on what is going on. But what a book very much aimed at those of us who believe in magicand that all is never what it seems!
Can't wait to go on the tube again!

1.0 out of 5 stars Classic Diary Butchered by Appalling text errors, 19 Oct. 2013

I once owned a facsimile copy of this work and so was very excited at having them on Kindle.

My hopes were dashed on the first page when the word 'our' was replaced by the word 'out' rendering the entire FIRST SENTENCE unreadable.

I was deluded by thinking that this was an isolated error.

Very sad.

"Of all the books in all the world..."
I would never have believed that I could get so wrapped up in what appears, at first glance, to be a pile 'old codswallop'! BUT, and this is a BIG but, this series of books are very adult, humorous and extremely well written and at no point does the story line flag or go flat.
Thoroughly recommend this book
