Follow the Dove
Follow the Dove
by Catherine M. Byrne
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed the book, 25 July 2014
This review is from: Follow the Dove (Paperback)
Really enjoyed the book, it immediately took me to the wind swept north of Scotland and the fishing community. It is a haunting story that was so sad in parts and I could only wonder at the strength of character shown by some of the women in the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very powerful story, 8 Jan 2014

This review is from: Coming Home (Kindle Edition)
An extremely powerful story set against the backdrop of the 1st World War. A very graphic account of the brutality of war and how war brutalises the people concerned in this young boy’s journey to try and assuage the guilt he feels after killing his brother. Very well written and, although the story is fictional, the battles, places and bravery have obviously been well researched. Some of the vivid descriptions of the gruesome conditions but also the comradeship and bravery of these (mostly) young people should serve as a reminder in these centenary years of just what the people involved had to suffer.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that transcends time and space, 23 Nov 2013
I enjoyed the book but unfortunately read the 2nd part before the 1st, but still managed to relate and warm to the characters and to the belief that true love can last forever. Will get around to reading the 1st part soon.
I love the fact that that the characters were time travellers and that Elvaenna went through time and space to be with her 'true love'.
The author carefully crafts the story so that the time travellers are prepared to meet the problems and dangers which face them on both sides of the time zones.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very intriguing read, 12 Sep 2013

This review is from: The Secret (Kindle Edition)
The mystery and intrigue that surrounds The Secret creates a very interesting read. Who did it and why? Will he find out why Ellie is so secretive and which girl will he settle for in the end? Thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is one which I will read again and again. The author obviously has a great deal of knowledge of design and this, too, I found interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual story, 15 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The author sets the scene for this beautifully told story and mixes the supernatural with the ordinary in quite a clever way.
Chrissie is the girl who lives out her life between two worlds which merge in an interesting and unusual way. I thoroughly enjoyed it and puzzled as to how it could reach a plausible end - this it does in quite a clever and completely plausible way.
Thoroughly recommend especially to anyone interesting in a mystery with a twist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating story, 15 July 2013

Just finished reading ` Tainted Tree' by Jacquelynn Luben
Beautifully written book couldn't put it down until I found out if her blood really was `tainted' Think the author must have put quite a lot of research into finding out how to get information on discovering her real parents. Thoroughly enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful story that keeps your interest right to the end,, 24 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Jen, a lonely, troubled young woman moves mysteriously between two time zones and two completely different lives and has no control over these strange moves.
This is a beautiful story with some very nostalgic and well researched images of the 1960's which gives the story even more credibility.
I find myself very moved by her dilemma: which life does she really want and how can she go back (or forward) to the one she finally choose?
Jen's story completely absorbed me right to the unexpected and completely plausible end.

A very intriguing story I was puzzled as to how the author would tie up all the loose ends at the end, but she does this in an imaginative but completely plausible way. Chrissie, one of the main characters, lives her life out in two very different worlds looking for answers as to why she feels so frightened. Loved the ending although quite tragic at least Chrissie finds peace and happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, 3 May 2013

This review is from: Birmingham Girls (Kindle Edition)
Truly inspirational. The author just gets on with making a living for her family in any way she can. A fine example to anyone who loses their job.. The author picks herself up and takes work wherever she can find it.
Although obviously very experienced the lady takes on any sort of menial work when things get tough.

5.0 out of 5 stars memories from a charming young girl, 28 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A nostalgic account of wartime Britain told through the eyes of a rather charming little girl. Enjoyed this but unfortunately it was spoilt by rather poor editing in parts. Also I suppose the blank pages had pics. in them but unfortunately they didn't appear in my copy. I think the charm and content gives this the right to 5 stars.
