4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh, colourful, inspiring, 9 Mar. 2012
This review is from: Inspired Vegan (Paperback)
'Inspired' is a word that is overused (like 'passionate' and 'it's my dream') but this collection deserves the name. Mainly African American cuisine, but peppered with Asian influences, veganised and modernised with fresh veg and some great flavour combinations that sound genuinely tasty. He may be a campaigner for food justice, but this guy is also a properly trained vegan chef and it shows. I really enjoyed his ideas. A recommended purchase for vegan cooks and the vegan-curious. Inspiring! Read my in-depth review at the veggie foodwriter blog, veggiefoodwriter.blogspot.com

3.0 out of 5 stars Already seasoned, 29 Feb. 2012
Yes, I was glad I didn't already own 'Seasoned Vegetarian' as this is apparently the very same book with a different title. Assuming you're not livid at having bought the same thing twice, it's not a bad investment for under a tenner. Suitable for ambitious home cooks, nice-looking and lavishly photographed. Might make a nice gift for somebody (if they haven't already got it under another name...). Find my full detailed review at the veggie food writer blog, veggiefoodwriter.blogspot.com

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspired but crazy, 15 Feb. 2012
Don't buy this one for your mum, or if you're looking for a nice book abut salads. These guys break all the rules, a salad could be practically any veg, hot or cold, and more than likely laced with chillies and beer. This is a book for people who love experimental cooking and aren't upset by colourful language. Read my complete review at the veggie food writer blog, veggiefoodwriter.blogspot.com

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 10 Feb. 2012
This review is from: Fresh & Green (Hardcover)
Disappointed with this, there's just no real enthusiasm or fizz in it. A lot of the recipes seem old-fashioned and there's no real attempt to freshen them up with new twists. Lacks stylish cheffy ideas. OK for beginners or old-school fans. Expect vegetable crumble, nut loaf, stuffed tomatoes, creme brulee...
