Great book, 24 Oct. 2008
Mary Borden's book is fascinating - I'm surprised its the first time its been republished since 1929. Its tells a really harrowing story of her WW1 experience running an ambulence service right on the front line. Unlike so many war memoirs its marvellously short (less than 200 pages). Its also fantastically well written. Mary Borden became a well known novelist between the wars and this book is very readable. I'm intending to give it to all my female realtions for Christmas.
