5.0 out of 5 stars A serious book for the keen collector, 28 Jun 2008
This is volume one of three. A must for collectors of English decorative tiles . Showing a good range of tiles
from commercial Manufacturers A-H .Very well illustrated.
A small informative write up on each of the tile manufacturers, known to the author.
A glossary, very useful to the collector. A pricing system guide ,not helpful.
Pay what you can afford ,some of the best tiles I have in my collection, cost less than 20.
Also you can see a small selection of the tile backs, from each of the Manufacturers.
To help the collector to attribute and date the tiles.
In conclusion Chris Blanchett book is fast becoming the collectors Bible . There are errors in this book, as there in most books. Understandable in this mammoth reference work by Chris Blanchett. On to volume two.

This book is well produced, full of examples of De Morgan's
wonderful free flowing designs, mostly organic .Also
beau ideal stylised forms of animals, birds and fish.
A good range of his Red luster designs. Plus two good essays by
Elizabeth Aslin and Alan Caiger-Smith.
In conclusion a very good informative book by Jon Catleugh at a giveaway price, its worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A splended second course, 28 Jun 2008
This second series is has good it gets. All the cast work well together.Victorias humour will always stand the test of time.
My advice buy series one&two together, and view when ever you need a pick me up. Remind all your close friends what
they are missing, don't lend them the D.V.Ds you may never get them back.

4.0 out of 5 stars A budget priced book of John Moyr Smith designs, 28 Jun 2008
A book with world wide appeal .There are collecters of Moyr Smith tiles all around the globe. And this little gem fills a big gap.
A catalogue of Mintons tile series designs,by John Moyr Smith. That were so popular in the late Victorian period.Lots of images, with the relevant information.

I can say this book is good value, and a must to any lover of Victorian design.

3.0 out of 5 stars A GOOD HELPFULL BOOK AT LOW COST, 28 Jun 2008
A book packed full of snippets of usefull information.
That should get the new collector interested in the differet styles, and decorative techniques developed over
the last few hundred years.
A few errors may be found by the more discerning collectors. But there is a lot good basic information.Lots of images showing a wide range of tiles.
Giving great value for under 13.00.

5.0 out of 5 stars Victoria Woods true delights. British humour at its best, 27 Jun 2008
I loved it the first time around in the late 90s.
Watching it on the D.V.D format is so good. It more than stands the test of time .The humour get you thinking
about the main chracters in a most unusual way.
Victoria's way with words, such hidden depth's , you need to watch it several times to fully appreciate, her great understanding of the British sense of humour.
The cast are known to everybody. They all have Their part's to play in the well scripted story lines.A joy for all, almost.

Not suitable any one under 10 or over 130 years of age

2.0 out of 5 stars A FAIR OPINION IN MY OPINION, 22 Jun 2008
This book will give the new collector, a chance to see a wide range of collectable Art Nouveau designs on tiles. Full of photos from a wide range of manufacturers. A good table top book, If it get's people interested in collecting and preserving, Art Nouveau tile's, Good.
Basic imformation is lacking, and in many cases wrong. The Authors have picked up on other peoples mistakes. And compounded them, easy done, very little original research done in writing of table top books.
The tile valuations best ignored.A lot of Sexton Blakes.
There will be more imformative books, for the more inquisitive collector,I am sure in the near future.
