4.0 out of 5 stars Good but repetitive, good but repetitive, good but repetitive, good..., 28 Jun 2012

I loved this book.
It has some wonderful ideas and helps prove that you do not need to be a van Gough to accomplish effective visuals in meetings or the classroom.
My only complaint is that it does try to reinforce the same points again and again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading with some great tips., 6 Jan 2012
This is a great read with some really useful tips.
Ms Henson (the author) has produced a very quick reference to encourage readers to get their sites and catalogues (yes, people still produce them) in shape.
Ms Henson's experience in the industry has been brought into a simple volume that will inspire and guide.

The Business Plan Workbook: The Definitive Guide to Researching Writing up and Presenting a Winning Plan
The Business Plan Workbook: The Definitive Guide to Researching Writing up and Presenting a Winning Plan
by Colin Barrow
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch stuff!, 4 Dec 2011
This is one those all time classics.
It's easy to digest, broken down into small manageable sections, uses language that I guess most people will find easy to comprehend and it does so in a style that makes this feel really light reading.
I have the 6th edition and find myself refering to it over and over again. Perhaps one of the best books I have in my collection on this subject.
Oh, most of my students love it too!

The Independents, The: Britain's New Cultural Entrepreneurs

5.0 out of 5 stars Dated but still worth a read., 1 Dec 2011

If you are involved with the creative classes in any form this is a must read. Simple and to the point it is easy to digest.
True it is a bit dated, but as a reference (to the near past context in this dynamic sector) this is definately worth getting if you haven't already!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great exercises in this book., 1 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a really nice read and one of the best on the subject of business writing.
Not entirely convinced by some of the dialogue between John and Jamie (the authors), but the exercises at the end of each week (things to do) were really unique and did work on many occassions to get me focused on the issue in hand.
If you teach business at either FE or HE I recommend reading this, it certainly inspired me to add some quite fresh, practical exercises to my classes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Get stingy and motivated!, 31 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I normally don't read this kind of book: Be a Great Entrepreneur: Teach Yourself.
It's a time thing. But I have really enjoyed reading this.
92% taught me nothing new, 5% I disagreed with (I should say with a smile), 3% wasn't a revolution but certainly got me thinking.
I loved the fast paced way Alex McMillan has written this. I think for anyone starting out or indeed on their 2nd, 3rd etc. round of enterprises this book is great at pushing you to get out there and find your clients.
Really nice as a motivational tool and maybe even better as an introduction to enterprise and wealth management.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simplicity is the key here., 31 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book The One Page Business Plan: The Fastest, Easiest Way to Write a Business Plan is a gift for anyone teaching business planning.
As an ELT resource it is great at getting learners to focus on their vision and their overall offering in English.
At undergrad level (non business students [UK]) it is a wonderful way to introduce the basics of business planning while allowing your learners time and space to explore the lexicons and build their knowledge of the function of each section.
Simple and very straight forward this is a great resource for anyone starting out teaching enterprise.
Because of this it is also a very handy resouce for those who have been teaching a while, it helps remind you why certain sections 'feel' the way they do and to differentiate the areas that can cause most confusion among learners (and sometimes teachers ;).
