1.0 out of 5 stars Don't work, 9 Aug 2012
Arrived loose in a packet, I plugged them into my iPad, and all I heard was a hiss. Utterly fake, utterly useless. Avoid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy, 31 May 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For a start, the signal strength is pathetic. I don't know where they get the defintion 'broadband' from, but I should think it means at least being able to stream BBC iplayer. And the second problem is topping up. You have to top up via the Vodaphone website, which I only realised after I bought the dongle is notoriously unreliable. You try and enter your details to pay, and end up with a message saying the website cannot process your request - over and over and over again. Even if you want to use your dongle, you can't - there's no way to top up. Vodaphone Customer Services very unhelpful. I have thrown this away, and bought another dongle. Take my advice - click away from this product, and buy another one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much detail, too little storytelling, 9 Nov 2011
This review is from: The Other Tudors (Kindle Edition)
The facts were interesting, the author has obviously done a massive amount of research. However, the delination of the facts was very dull, and read more like a student thesis than a popular history book (which I guess this set out to be). There were long lists of 'this man did this and then he did this' - all for people presumed to be Henry's bastards, with very little proof offered to show they were. I would have like to learned more of Henry as a lover and father - the glimpses of his courting style were very interesting, but all too few. As some of his supposed offspring went wild, how did he react? What did he do? How did he seduce these women? Apparently he was a great romantic - so what were his romantic acts? All these details, which would have added life and interest, were missing. The author's style was very flat, and staid.

I think this might be a good reference book, to look up certain people, but not really suitable as a book to read all the way through, for enjoyment and enlightment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overheats and stops, 6 Jun 2010
Plugged into my 7.4v - 12v portable DVD player. Took over 3hours to charge it up on lowest setting. When on a higher setting, the adaptor overheated, and then stopped working altogether. This happened on two of these adapators I bought.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the long version, 5 May 2008
This review is from: Flood [2007] [DVD] (DVD)
Be warned - this is NOT the four hour (and far superior) version ITV showed - this is the shorter version of the same programme, with 3 hours cut, for cinema release

1.0 out of 5 stars Utter Rubbish, 4 Feb 2007
This review is from: An American Haunting [DVD] (DVD)
The original story of the Bell Witch is fascinating and disturbing. Unfortuntely the film takes this fascinating and disturbing story and turns it into a boring load of cliched clap-trap.

Th writing is pedestrian, and dull, with lots 'did you hear that?'s and very little real insight into what is happening in this ordinary American home, and never any discussion as to whether the girls are faking it or not (as was discussed at the time.), or the reasoning behind the haunting. In fact, very few of the actual events seem to make it into the script. The writer is guilty of that old fault - thinking he can improve on reality. The direction is equally dull - the director trying very hard to turn what should be a subtle, complex story into teenage screamfest, and failing terribly. He cannot build up tension, or evoke horror, at all. Considering what a fine cast of actors he has, and how hard they work, you'd think he produce at least one moment of terror out of a true ghost story, but all he produce is one long, bored yawn. He's not helped by a music soundtrack full of screeching, screaming instruments, intruding into moments where silence might have produced an eerie, unsettling moment.

All in all - read the books about the Bell Witch. It's a fascinating story. Watch the Blair Witch Project - it gets closer to evoking the horror the real Bell Witch still evokes. But don't bother with this dull, boring, cliched pile of utter rubbish.
