5.0 out of 5 stars Lighten your dark, 27 Nov 2013
This review is from: Lighten the Dark (Audio CD)
This is an exceptionally lovely and very cheering album for this time of year and really does what its title claims! If you enjoy Hannah James' sweet vocals on this, you can also hear her as one of Lady Maisery where she sings in exquisite close harmony with two other honey-voiced women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nancy & James get it right again!, 29 Oct 2013

Beautiful songs, beautifully sung. This duo are accomplished musicians and lovely singers. Their original songs will surely stand the test of time and become the future's folk songs. Nancy & James are in a class of their own.

This is a must-buy CD for anyone with any interest in English folk music. The musicianship is absolutely top-class - a wonderful line-up. Let's hope it's the first of many from the fantastic Full English Archive. Great choice of songs and tunes - it's already one of my favourite CDs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavenly harmonies, 4 Sep 2013
This review is from: Fifty Verses (Audio CD)
Melrose Quartet are Nancy Kerr & James Fagan plus Jess & Richard Arrowsmith - 4 folk singers and musicians at the top of their game. Lovely choice of songs and instrumentals all sung and played beautifully. Songs are written or arranged by Melrose themselves and the ones they write themselves are often celebrations for relatives and friends' weddings or birthdays which gives a lovely intimate feel to the album. Try to see them live if you can - they sound exactly the same as this studio album. They're the real thing. Fabulous!
