Took a while to come from China. It is not padded just single layer of neoprene, so I'm not sure it wouldd protect my nexus if I dropped it

Chaco Women Updraft Bulloo Sandals Ladies Dark Shadow UK 6

5.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable walking sandals, 28 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I like Chaco sandals because they do not have neoprene under the straps. Neoprene becomes very smelly in a hot climate where one's feet sweat a lot. The straps in these sandals have to be adjusted and I would have preferred for them to be a little longer for when one's feet swell

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written fairy tale, 14 Feb 2014

This review is from: The Snow Child (Paperback)
A poetic, descriptive account of pioneer life in Alaska in the early 20th century. The character of the couple is beautifully drawn and the sadness they feel at not having children. I love the link to the Russian fairy tale and the book leaves some questions unanswered.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unimaginably poignant account of an aspect of life in India, 14 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you are the remotest bit interested in India and the role of some women in this rapidly developing country, you must read this. It is written by an Indian woman who persuades women to tell her their sOften horrific stories provided they are assured of anonymity. The English is sometimes a little unusual....Indian English has evolved differently. I was in India when I read it and couldn't put it down.

The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul
The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul
Price: 2.99

4.0 out of 5 stars An informative book about life in Kabul and its difficulties, 29 Jan 2014

The book portrayed many of the tragedies endured by the people, but particularly the women of Afghanistan. It was resolved a little too quickly, easily and unrealistically in my opnion

The book is beautifully written about two families, one in Sri Lanka and the need to escape from a brutal regime. The character of Eric is extremely well drawn, but I found the relationship between him and the mother not easy to believe.

A pleasant, interesting read about a woman's desire to accomplish her goal and reach Timbuktu, using any transport available, actively encouraged by her very supportive French husband.

3.0 out of 5 stars 70s trip to Africa, 14 Jan 2014

Account of a decision to take a car to Africa with some friends. Mildly interesting but the details of their journey were skimmed over. Even his life working in Zimbabwe for several years was dealt with in a fairly superficial way. A very light read bulked out slightly with photographs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intrepid 19th century explorer, 14 Jan 2014

An amazing woman who went off to the African rainforest dressed in Victorian long skirts and blouses. She is self effacing, writes with great humour and shows a complete lack of superior racist attitudes. She betrays a great understanding of, and curiosity in, the members of the various tribes with which she has contact.

4.0 out of 5 stars The path of true love in feudal Pakistan, 14 Jan 2014

This review is from: The Holy Woman (Kindle Edition)
This book gave very interesting information about an aspect of life in Pakistan that was new to me. It explores the life of a Muslim woman the mores of the society and the relationship she has with her father. There is a parallel story about another woman and her rocky path to marriage, but I was not convinced it linked with the principal story.
