4.0 out of 5 stars Speak clearly and you are on a winner, 8 July 2009
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Installation and setup is simple enough, you get to choose which language dictionary you're going to translate into and you get to warn about what kind of accent you've got. I

Choosing the right accent, dictionary and audio device set of options are of critical.

There is also the option to "train" the system by reading it a selection of texts to allow it to calibrate your voice type.

In terms of user interface dragon is fairly flexible. The "DragonBar" can sit quietly in the window on top of everything else, or dock to different parts of the screen depending on your preference.

The Outlander
The Outlander
by Gil Adamson
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars a decent read, 8 July 2009
This review is from: The Outlander (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
As an adventure yarn this is a enjoyable read. The widow's journey through the wilderness and her eventual settling in the horse-rustling, wild-western but doomed town of Frank is well-paced and entertaining. The details are vivid and the pages turn quite rapidly. My advice is to read and enjoy the novel on this level because on closer inspection it doesn't hold up as well.

Linksys by Cisco WRT610N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router with Storage Link (for Cable connections i.e Virgin Broadband)

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice kit, 8 July 2009
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Compact, internal antenna design; supports both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Draft N simultaneously; network-attached storage functionality; runs cool; supports Wi-Fi-Protected Setup.

Short one-year warranty; 2.4GHz close-range and mixed-mode throughput could be better; and its a bit expensive.

The WRT610N can satisfy both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wireless clients with its solid performance, great design, ease of use, and its ability to work as a network storage device when coupled with an external hard drive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impeccable storytelling, 8 July 2009
This review is from: Daemon (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The premise of Daemon,is not entirely out of the realm of possibility. A computer programmer has developed a computer program that sits in the background waiting for a certain trigger which will cause it to execute (a daemon) which continually scans the news for his obituary.
As soon as the daemon finds his obituary it starts executing commands and society as we know it starts to fall apart very quickly. In a short period of time the Daemon has corporations, packs of people and even governments under its' control.

Top notch research from Suarez likens him to Michael Crichton.

We have impeccable storytelling, great research and technological detail weaved into the plot. What else could you want?

Closing Time: A Memoir
Closing Time: A Memoir
by Joe Queenan
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a happy read, 8 July 2009
This review is from: Closing Time: A Memoir (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Joe Queenan has written a slew of bestsellers about American culture,In this self-serving book, no slight Joe Queenan ever suffered goes unturned, over and over.
Unfortunately, the memoir turns out to be another bit of his trademark mean-spirited vengeance on his old man's battered ghost.
In spite of those cavils, the book remains intermittently readable. Queenan has some interesting speculations and observations on what it can feel like to be poor, and even when he is repetitive or too sweeping in generalizing from his own subjective experiences, he can claim some limited authority on the subject.
Readers who knew both childhood poverty and an alcoholic parent will find shocks of recognition in Queenan's account of his own sufferings, but many of those now adult children of alcoholics will, nonetheless, marvel at Queenan's relentlessly self-pitying hardness of heart.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical and fun, 27 Jan 2009
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Grand Designs 3D R&I is ideal for fans of the show. For 39 it provides most of what a novice to CAD will need.
The instructions are easy to follow with good graphics and images.
Lots of templates including examples as featured on the show, pre-set plans, window designs, and roofs.
You can develop new designs. There is a simple walk-through for 3D designs
It has "4,800 objects and 1,300 textures" with the design templates, the novice or GD fan alike can while away the hours building homes featured on the programme.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice little package, 27 Jan 2009
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
DVD Suite 7 is a media and disc-burning suite as easy to use and nearly as powerful as Nero, though not as bloated, thank goodness. It has easy to learn, animated interface suite-wide, that makes Nero look clunky.

The Suite includes PowerDVD 8 movieplayer,PowerDirector movie editor/creator,MediaShow. PowerDirector is able to export directly to iPod, iPhone, and PSP.

Other elements are PowerBackup,DVD Copy, which can duplicate non-copy-protected discs,Label Printer and InstaBurn.

DVD menu templates are included with more available online, all free and decent quality
