5.0 out of 5 stars Why have you not got this already?, 29 Feb. 2004
This review is from: College Dropout (Audio CD)
Now don't get me wrong i'm not a big fan of the ROC record label (except cam'ron!) so i was not sure if i wanted this album but i had to buy it coz he wrote "Through the wire" after his car crash were his mouth was wired shut (gotta respect that!).
This album is one of the few album these days which you don't need a fast forward button, get rich or die tryin was another one! There are some classics on this album like "All falls down" "Slow Jamz" and "Through the wire."
There are some really refreshing lyrics here, especially on Jesus walks (Which has only really been approached by scarface in this manner before, but not to this extent).
I will finish by saying that this is a must have album lyrics and beats are top class!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally home to Nintendo!, 18 Jan. 2004
OK I am writing this review based on the Japanese import that I have been playing so I cannot comment to much on the all important storyline. What I do know about it is the fact that you are (as usual) the only hope for the land you live in. You need to collect the mana droplets from the mana tree to protect your town from the evil mist. This mist also affects you in battle as one person arries a lantern which protects the others from its harm while the others attack. So as you can guess it is quite technical.
The major point that I have to raise is the graphics of this game. They are amazing and the best by far in the entire final fantasy series. Screen shot sdo not do the game justice, believe me! The characters are excellent and the scenery is breathtaking and thats not an exaggeration! The amazing lighting effects are put on display again by the lush spells the game has to offer.
I have the entire set of FF games so I can make this next comparison pretty well:
the combat system is the major change. No more turn based battles as everything is now in real time! This takes a while to get used to but once you do it is hard to imagine it any other way (more like Kingdom hearts battles). Spells can be made more powerful by combining with a collegue (e.g. Fire and Ice makes gravity/Demi).
This brings me to the games only major gripe, to get the most out of this game you need 4 gameboy advances and 4 link cables. Now this isn't necessary as you can use controllers but the gba screens hold all the relevant status to your character so you don't need to keep going to the status screen to check.
The single player game is definitely amazing whether you play it with friends or not (i have done both) but with friends you can communicate a plan much easier and blame others if you get beat!
The other main difference is that you cannot go exploring through other peoples houses, which although pointless in most cases added that extra feeling of freedom, which is still present in this installment but more so in were you explore.
Different areas unlock when you have the required mana droplet so there is some linear pattern to the game but you can actually go back and forward whenever you like.
This is the best final fantasy since 7 (although 10 was close!).

5.0 out of 5 stars FACE MOB!, 18 Jan. 2004
This review is from: The Fix (Audio CD)
Scarface has some brilliant support on this album such as Nas, Jay Z, Kelly Price and W.C. There are a number of classic tracks on this album. My personal favourites are "Guess Who's Back" "On My Block" and "In Between Us."
"On my Block" has the perfect piano mix with beats for scarfaces voice. "Guess who's Back" has the most addictive tune and whether you like Jay Z or not you will like this song. "In between Us" has Nas who raps at the start and his verse will give you the shivers its that good!
Scarface raps about everything from God to the hood and not in the way that some rappers do these days SCARFACE DOES IT WELL! You will know what I mean by the time the album finishes. Whether you like hardcore gangsta rap or the more radio friendly rap this album has it all and no matter which you prefer you will like it all. Scarface raps with a realism that is quite rare in this age but stands it own and puts others to shame.
There was not many great albums released when this album was out but this made sure it became a classic must have.
If you dont know much about scarface this is the best album to start your appreciation and if you are a big fan you MUST own this in your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars I know you don't smoke weed but im gonna get u high 2day!, 18 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Friday [DVD] [1995] (DVD)
First I should let you know this film is not a serious film like Boys in the Hood but it does try to get the "Increase the Peace" message in its own way. Chris Tucker plays the hugely funny weed smoker Smokey and Ice Cube plays his best friend and hero of the film Craig. Basically this film follows Craigs life on a Friday (funny enough!) were nothing seems to go right. Craig meets up with a number of characters throughout this film such as the block bully Deebo and Smokeys supplier Big Worm (who fronts as a not very friendly ice cream man!) Basically this film has recurring jokes and if you watch Smokey a second time around you will see that these jokes begin right at the start.
Chris Tucker is at his best in this film and if you enjoyed him in Rush Hour then I would advise you to buy this today! Ice Cube also plays his role very well with a great support from on screen family.
Tucker has loads of classic lines that you will be saying over and over after you have finished watching this film!
This is the best in the series of the Friday films so watch it and you will see what I mean. YOU WILL LAUGH OUT LOUD!

4.0 out of 5 stars What goes around comes around., 17 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Boomerang [DVD] [1992] (DVD)
Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawerence, Chris Rock, Halle Berry to name but a few take part in this film.
Eddie Murphy plays a successful advertiser who plays the field more than Hugh Hefner! He gets all the girls until one day he meets his match (Robin Givens). From here on in he trys to seduce her but she plays him for a fool and turns him to an insecure mess at one point!
LOADS of sex references (I recommend the first 5 minutes of the film to see just how subtle the film is!BEST ADVERT EVER!) and loads of classics Eddie Murphy in which he plays to his stand up self more than his recent PG film self (not that there is anything wrong with them but watch RAW and you will understand what i mean!)
This film is well worth watching and although it is a romantic at heart you would be surprised just who it turns out to be with.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Ice cubes best work....nearly., 8 Jan. 2004
This review is from: The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This was actually my first ice cube album and after buying it and hearing the first 12 tracks i went out and bought the rest of his albums! Thats how good this album is, not that I didnt know his songs before hand but I never knew just how many there were!
On this album the great hits like "Today was a good day" "One nation" "Hello" and the list goes on!
I would recommend this to anyone wanting to hear more of Ice cube or to fans who are missing certain tracks but all the tracks have been released previously on his other albums so for those with a full set it isnt worth getting unless you want all of the greatest hits put onto one album called......"Greatest Hits."

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Distraction, 8 Jan. 2004
This review is from: Shadow Hearts (PS2) (Video Game)
Most PS2 owners that enjoy RPG Games will know all about the Final Fantasy series. This is ANOTHER IN THE LONG LIST OF rpgs but its not your normal churn out. There is a few alterations to the standard gameplay with the addition of the judgement ring.
The Judgement ring is basically a way to test your reflexes and the better you are the more powerful your attacks/action is. If you are too slow you miss and if you get that very slim red area then you critical hit.
Its a nice theory and it does keep you interested in all the battles as you are more involved.
The graphics are good but not amazing and the FMVs that are FMVs are well done but it is a shame that some cut scenes are just hand drawings giving it an unfinished or rushe dfeling.
Don't let this put you off however the game itself is good and there are alot of summons available as well as ungradable weapons and character spells.
The story as with all rpgs is the main thing and there are twists and turns in this one to keep you playing.
In conclusion I would recommend this at least to pass the time until Final Fantasy X-2!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Greatest Hits!, 8 Jan. 2004
Scarface has that kind of voice that if you listen to him spit a complicated rhyme you will get shivers at how good it is. And this album is full of them. My personal favourite is "Hand of the dead body" which features Ice Cube. This track is brillant the beat works perfectly with Faces husky voice and with Ice cubes aggression! There are some other classic tracks on the album like "Look me in my eyes" "Mary jane" and "Southside." Basically if you love Scarface buy this, if you dont buy this and you will love him!

5.0 out of 5 stars Come get some!, 8 Jan. 2004
This was my first FPS game I ever bought and I must admit I did not intentionly buy it. I was looking for Domm but the shop only had this and it was recommended to me instead(I never did thank that man!). This was the best thing that could have happened. That may upset a few people but Duke Nukem was superior to doom in a number of ways. Firstly, and most significantly, the humour. This plays a HUGE part throughout the entire game. There are spoofs of Mission Impossible, the Avengers, the man from UNCLE and the list goes on and on!
The second major thing is Duke himself! In Doom you are a marine (which also gets made fun of!) but theres nothing else to him except the odd grunt or scream. Duke on the other hand is the King of one liners, for example, "Your an inspiration for birth control!" and at strippers "Shake it baby." These are only a few as he interacts with alot of items such as mirrors, hookers and the odd death of an enemy.
The levels are well designed although some are deadly mazes and some are quite short but mostly well balanced. There are boss levels which occur at the end of each episode and hidden levels to discover.
Now as with all First Person games the weapons play a big part. This game does not disappoint. From the usual pistol and shotgun to the MASSIVE devestator (Shoulder mounded rapid fire twin rockets....phew!) and the RPG (Rocket propelled grenades) to the unusual freeze ray and shrinker/expander. The freeze ray does what it says on the tin and then you can kick the enemy into a 1000 bloody ice cubes! The shinker/expander has two settings, one shrinks the enemy to then get stepped on and the expander makes them inflate until they burst. Nice!
The graphics are looking dated now but brilliant for that old skool feel and the FMVs are surprisingly good for their age (if not a bit graphic! But i love them!).
The enemies themselves are pretty basic by todays standards but they are still pretty good and better than some games available at the moment!
Overall this game is sheer brilliance for its time and there are enough mods and addons to keep you going forever or until Duke Nukem Forever but the first one will come first the way this is looking!
Oh yea did I mention that you can pay strippers to take their tops off which recovers health, play a basic pool game and watch porn in adult film booths?
If you are easily offended don't buy this game as it does earn its 18 certificate with adult humour, adult movies/magazines, gore and swearing. But if this makes you even more likely to buy it....enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple. Buy this game., 3 Jan. 2004
This will be the easiest review i have ever had to write. This game is an absolute classic and a must have for any RPG fan. The graphics may look dated by todays standards but they still hold their own. Brilliant battles, likeable characters and most of all AMAZING storylines.
The materia may be confusing for some but its not too hard to understand if you follow the tutorials and use some trial and error!
Huge world and freedom to go everywhere. This game also has the best villian ever....Sepherioth. By far the coolest bad guy in a computer game.
The music is very well done and can even be bought on a soundtrack album! That has to tell you something!
Anyone who has played thiis game will mention it in there favourite games ever and for good reason.
My only annoyance is the Chocobo breeding to get the wonderful golden chocobo but even this will appeal to some people.
The mini games are extremely playable, road rash and 1080* get a make over!
Buy it, play it for a few hour and then lose 50+ hours of your life.
Yes there is a very good replay value in this game (i have finished it 3 times!) and the life span? 3 cds each is packed and if you want to do everything you will play it for a good 50 odd hours if not more.
