5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Concise, 23 May 2011
Fantastic book, can't recommend it highly enough. You can literally pick a page at random and you'll find a useful section and accompanying exercise. No need to read from cover to cover in order to make sense of the different sections. The exercise's really help to free up your hand and get your thinking about you writing in novel ways. For the price this is an absolute must have resource for all creative writers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive and Rewarding Gameplay, 29 Mar. 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
If you liked the original Dissidia or are a fan of the Final Fantasy series then your sure to enjoy this. Very little has changed with the game over the original (if it ain't broke), just the odd improvements such as character assists and summons, but the new characters/story and open world map (albeit slightly small) makes this game feel fresh. As with the previous game the story is nothing ground breaking, but it is nice to see all these beloved characters interact together. Where it does excel however is the gameplay. It's fast paced and highly addictive, and levelling up the characters is fun, rewarding, and seldom becomes a drag. My only gripe would be the often over-long loading times, but this can be minimised by installing a certain amount of the game to your data stick. That and the legacy pack is essentially just a nice case with a few cards inside, but it's still a bonus. Also, once you've completed the game you can replay the entire Dissidia story, so if you've yet to play the original there has never been a better time. It's also really long and will keep you entertained for weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent package, 28 Mar. 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a must have package for all Tomb Raider fans. Legend and Anniversary have made a solid transition to HD, with Underworld looking as good as ever. The game play may not be as smooth as many newer adventure titles i.e. Uncharted, but it is clear when playing where the inspiration for these games came from. The stories are great and the voice acting has held up surprisingly well considering they're a good five/six years old. The exclusive content may not be anything too exciting but is still a welcome bonus. For those new to the series this is an excellent place to start, as you get three fantastic games on one disc, and trophy support is enough to make this game worth while for those familiar with the series. I was sceptical at first as I have such fond memories of Legend and Anniversary, but they were as fun to play as ever and at this price the set is a bargain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Touching on every level, 17 July 2010
There's very little I can add that others haven't already said. But it cannot be overstated how wonderful this film is. If you haven't seen it you simply must, and on Blu-ray it is a marvelous package. The picture is so crisp and sharp it just can't be faulted. The film really is a joy and never fails to bring a tear to my eye. The overall message is truly lovely and is by far one of Pixar's best, which when looking at their back catalogue is really saying something. A film for all ages and a classic in every respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, even if you're not keen on Star Trek, 19 Mar. 2010
This review is from: Star Trek [DVD] (DVD)
I'm the first to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the whole Star Trek franchise. But after strong recommendations I gave in and was pleasantly surprised. A really engrossing film with fantastic action and a gripping story. Glad I gave it a go, can't wait for the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good if not a little short, 19 Mar. 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dante's Inferno (PS3) (Video Game)
Admittedly I was a little hesitant about this game after reading previous reviews, and whilst most of the negative issues people have highlighted are true, it doesn't take away from the fact that this is very good game. The pace is relatively quick and you find yourself stringing together combos in now time, and the story is enough to keep you entertained throughout. The game would take most players between 8-10 hours to complete, which is quite short considering the price but there is plenty of opportunity for replay. What with a number of difficulty levels and lots of collectibles. Yes the game does get a little repetitive and slow about half way through, but the scale of the environments is enough to keep you interested. The imagery can in places be quite disturbing, and at times in poor taste, but not enough to really damage the overall gameplay. A highlight of the game has to be the graphics, with some top notch cut-scenes to rival any modern CGI film. All in all a great addition to any gaming collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic film...disastrous 3D, 6 Jan. 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Five stars for the film, absolute genius, couldn't fault it! Perhaps not the most suitable film for younger or more sensitive children. Just a little disappointed with the 3D distribution of the film on DVD. 3D works OK on the cinema but until they can emulate the technology in your living room and move away from these red and green glasses, it really isn't worth the extra few pounds. Just watch, enjoy and love the film in all its 2D glory!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid book to support your time in Vegas!, 6 Jan. 2010
Having just returned from Vegas I can tell you the corners of this book are well and truly worn! An excellent source of information whilst navigating the strip, and comes with a handy map at the back. There is a wealth of information available about each of the different resorts, discussing the various selling points of each. There's also some useful information about the tourist attractions outside of Vegas (Grand Canyon etc). Just be sure to check the Vegas website before heading off for all the latest information about the shows that are on. There really is something for everyone in Vegas, and with this great little book, you're sure to find it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not useful if learning with simplified characters., 6 Jan. 2010
Whilst this text is good in parts, and it's always useful to practice your characters, is it far from being the best book I've used whilst learning Mandarin. The layout for the most part is good, with the various exercises working nicely. However, the characters are written in their traditional style and this is not always clear. You need to be sure of what type of characters you will be learning, (traditional or simplified) as most courses appear to teach with simplified ones. You'd be much better investing in some pen and paper and creating your own sentences to practice with.
