5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, 24 Oct 2011
This review is from: Perfect Strangers (Audio CD)
This is truly awesome for Purple's 80s comeback. A great start with the gritty Knocking At Your Back Door, then the ferocious anger of Under The Gun with a great "Land of Hope and Glory" Blackmore solo. Then we have the two weird ones, Nobody's Home and Mean Streak. The title song is amazing, with exellent keyboards and briliant singing from Gillan. A Gypsy's Kiss has Under The Gun's pace to it , but Wasted Sunsets is a bit muted and slow. Hungry Daze has got great bass and singing to it, and the same for Not Responsible. Then with have ultra-drums with Son Of Alerik, the instrumental. This is a great album and is worth listening to over and over again.

I have an important revelation to make.
But first, the story. It starts off with soldiers in a cave system trying to find a geolical teams attackers. The soldiers start to get attacked too, being killed by andriods. They find the Doctor and think he killed the team, but then they find a metal hatch. Apon touching it, they are attacked by androids. The cliffhanger shows the cybermen are behind the attacks. The story goes on to a space freighter where the Doctor and Adric are accused of murder. The Doctor soon discovers the cybermen, who get to kill a load of people. The Doctor meets the cyber leader, and the freighter is set to crash into Earth. Adric manages to break through the programming and sends the ship back in time whilst the Doctor kills the cyber leader in the TARDIS.Adric manages to break more of the programming but a cyberman shoots the control panel. The ship crashes onto Earth in the dinosaur times, and makes them extinct, but Adric is still on board and dies.Okay, the revelation.I cried when Adric died.*credits roll in silence*

3.0 out of 5 stars Not-So-Much-Of-A-Paradise Towers..., 23 April 2011
This is the second McCoy story in his first season, which meant he was doing his pantomine style. However, he does manage to be not SO silly that it ruins everything. Langford wanders about alot in the decaying towers, but doesnt get so many cardboard, fluffy lines. There are some things I like in this story, like the Caretakers Hitlersque "fingers under noses" salutes, and one of my favourite lines in Doctor Who-Pex:"Are you annoying those old ladies?" Mel:"No." Pex:"Are those old ladies annoying you?".
There are things I dont like in this story, like Richard Briers or Kronagons giant mouth thingie. This is an alright story , but if it had darker music, and Sylv hadnt had that hideous non-question mark umbrella handle this episode would have worked better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pitch Black Comedy, 14 April 2011
This is a classic. It shows the morse subtle- and disgusting side of Davros. It shows why the CGI option can be disasterous. It shows that sometimes plotless stories work(Logopolis, for example). It shows a nicer side to Colins personality. It shows that if you walk around wearing Tranquil Repose outfits someone will come up to you and ask you if you are a dental student.
It shows many things, that I'm not bothered to list right now.
Buy this for a hilariuos death scene involving a toupe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pantomine?Get lost!, 14 April 2011
Finally, McCoy is dark!I like dark.Dark dark dar- where was I?
Right. Sylv had veered close to pantomine in his first season(having no help thanks to a companion made of 100% cardboard- yes, we're looking at YOU, Bonnie Langford), but this is the first glimpse of a scheming, manipultive Doctor.
Now, good stuff.
Ace beating up a Dalek with a baseball bat,
Pyrotechnics going OTT,
Daleks shooting each other,
Explosions,
Soldier carring strecher being shot and crashing into a corrogated iron sheet,
and passable effects...apart from the dalek shuttle flying....
Great special features.
This my 3rd favourite McCoy so.... buy this!

2.0 out of 5 stars Ssssssssllllllllllooooooooooooooowwwwww............, 19 Mar 2011
This is sadly a slow, boring story where the is a rubbish society based around being clean. Also, the lines are ocasionally terrible, like"..purity shines in beads of BLOOD..." and "...comes the spin cycle..". Dissapointing.Cole could be better.

My favourite Big Finish so far, this is a truly creepy+funny+weird story. McGann is excellent and the whole "noone goes upstairs when they are not called is kind of scary...

5.0 out of 5 stars Genesis of the Cybermen, 2 Feb 2011
"We will survive!"
A great story showing the birth of the cybermen, with Peter Davison doing great acting and chilling music. With a dictorial "goverment" and 50s style rationing, Mondas is represented excellently.
Buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant story, 2 Feb 2011
This story is great with the cast in top form, menacing daleks, ( with 80s death rays ) and a supreme dalek and special weapons dalek. Elgin is a great character, and the only con is Sophie Aldred's not entirely convincing robot Ace. Lovely sound effects.
Buy this CD!
