Zero Day (John Puller Series Book 1)
Price: £1.19

5.0 out of 5 stars Baldacci at his usual, skilful best, 27 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
You are totally hooked by the end of Chapter One - or even before that. All too credible in its theme and setting. Tell people to read this, but don't go giving away the plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do read this...!, 27 Oct. 2014

This review is from: River of Destiny (Kindle Edition)
Three time-strands cleverly woven into a convincing and gripping story. I live beside this river, which gives the setting an extra reality... then Erskine weaves in new dimensions: shivers of fear. pity and suspense. Masterly.

Hard to put down...Give yourself a chance to keep reading. The pace and twists of the plot are as good as usual in a Baldacci novel.

Odysseus: The Oath: Book One
Odysseus: The Oath: Book One
Price: £3.66

4.0 out of 5 stars The character of Odysseus is drawn in depth and with intelligent understanding, worthy of this wise figure, 27 Oct. 2014

Antiquity brought to life. The familiar story made almost as lively and imaginative as Madeline Miller's 'Song of Achilles'. There are enough differences to make it well worth reading both. The character of Odysseus is drawn in depth and with intelligent understanding, worthy of this wise figure.

4.0 out of 5 stars A deceptively simple mystery, 19 Oct. 2014

An intriguing short story in a deceptively simple setting... I read it twice in quick succession in order to take in the cleverness of the writing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Where? Who? Why? Read on to find out why..., 19 Oct. 2014

An extraordinary (oh,yes) group of people are brought together, unaware of the reason why, not sure if they like each other, with one surprise after another... a good holiday read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Susan Hill never disappoints, 19 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A novella, so short... and so totally gripping, as one expects of a Simon Serraillier story. This is focus at its best. I had to read it twice to enjoy the skilful writing.

The writer knows his setting, and is skilful in his use of the language. One is quickly engrossed by the characters, their dangerous predicaments and the historic events in which they are involved.

Set in Iceland, so expect to encounter the names, landscape and scale of that intriguing country. A modern detective story in a unique setting. I read it at a sitting.

5.0 out of 5 stars More magic than ever..., 3 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Richly described setting in Montmartre, familiar characters from 'Chocolat' - or are they? We learn so much more about Mme Rocher, and her daughter is growing up fast now. Who is the oh-so-helpful stranger in their lives? Will Roux reappear in time to prevent what we can all see as an unlikely marriage? It is a long read and you need to set aside at least a whole weekend, as it is really that absorbing.
