5.0 out of 5 stars Simplicity and spiritual wisdom, 17 Dec. 2015

Like Brians earlier works another well-crafted and challenging book. I would strongly recommend it, especially to the 'spiritual seeker' who tends to avoid organised religion... There are many inspirational and deep insights within. A wealth of wisdom from a breadth of spiritualities that is NOT a watered-down 'one size fits all pick and mix' but a real drawing together of truths that speak to the heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge impact from a small book, 17 Dec. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
If you thought it was possible to improve on the original edition - a 'spiritual; classic' and one of the best books on psycho-spirituality / personal growth I have ever read - Vincent MacNamara has managed to do it. Insightful and well-written the book concisely covers a wealth of really important issues close to the human heart. I have already read his earlier book many times. Its full of underlinings and my own scribblings - that tells you how important it has been for me. I have based retreat material on several sections - yes, its that good. Its a book for mulling over and refletion - not sitting down to read at one sitting - though this could easily be done as its only short. A prime example of how a small gift may have great value...

Letchworth Garden City in Fifty-Five Pictures

2.0 out of 5 stars Letchworth deserves better, 8 April 2015

Some of the pictures are fine but most are poorly reproduced. It did mention about 'format' of some pictures but this did not prepare me for how badly / hurriedly / cheaply this has been put together. I'm sure the digitally scanned images could have been adjusted to reduce the appalling 'Keystoning' that afflicts so many! There is software around to remedy this so the impression is that someone has just thrown this 'book' together at minimal work and its frankly not very good. Photoshop or similar could also have enhanced the clarity and general quality too. A shame as many of the pics looked very interesting. Be prepared to be disappointed.

Finding Your Hidden Treasure: The Way of Silent Prayer
Finding Your Hidden Treasure: The Way of Silent Prayer

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a classic!, 23 April 2012
This little gem of a book will undoubtably become a 'classic' in the genre of spirituality / prayer.

Anyone interested in meditation (from whatever background) would find this very helpful. It is not tub-thumping from any 'religious' perspective but draws on the ancient truths distilled from the wisdom of Augustine. It is very positive and enlightening and both my wife and myself have found it invaluable in our own journey into silence.
I am now on my third reading!

Truly inpirational - thanks and God bless Fr Ben.
