2.0 out of 5 stars 2 STARS FOR BEATS, CAMRONS WACK, 26 Feb. 2006
This review is from: Purple Haze (Audio CD)
fortunately I didnt buy this i was lent it by a friend, and camron is a terrible rapper, he hires good producers like just blaze and kanye west to hide the fact he cant rap, he has completely no flow, he raps with the skill of a 6 year old,he cannot rhyme atall, all he does is take words that rhyme but dont make any sense and put them together, he does not seem to be able to rap about anything meaningful, every song is about women, cars, money, and you guesed it, shooting people, it is also quite amusing that camron has a greatest hits album, how can you have a greatest hits album without any hits. I heard that camron has started dissing jay z about rhyme biting, but camron constantly bites off big L, it is also rumoured that juelz santana wrote 40% of this album, i wouldnt be surprised, please dont buy this, buy reasonable doubt, illmatic, ready to die, lifestylez of the poor and dangerous, anything but this

after the briliant debut, slim shady LP, eminem comes with an even better album ,ands it bloomin amazin, part of what makes this album is that hes so angry on it, and the anger goes in to the music, you can feel his pain on every song, eminem is also an amazing lyricist, his way with words is genius, and he has terrific multi syllable rhyming scheme, he also comes up with several genuinely funny jokes and punchlines on this album, and he does lots of different types of songs, and every song is brilliant, he has a great voice too, his voice makes you pay attention to what he says, dr dre and eminem himself did the beats the beats, which are brilliant ,the only slight let down on the album is the lack of talent of guest appearances, such as bizarre on amityville, this track would have been fine without him, as he cannot rap at all, overall, this is one of the best rap albums ever made, and a genuine contender for the best!

5.0 out of 5 stars REASONABLE DOUBT- CLASSIC, 11 Feb. 2006
This review is from: Reasonable Doubt (Audio CD)
if you though that jay z just made popcorn rap, and never really thought he was worth your time, or just thought he was an overrated commercialized rapper, listen to it, because it proves how talented he actually is, this album is a classic in every sense of the word, it has something most rap albums nowadays lack, subject matter, lyrics, beats, meaning and originality, this album is basically chronicling the ups and downs, regrets and joys of being a hustler, the beats to start off with are great, this album was mostly produced by dj premiere, and he did a fantastic job, the production is clean, crisp, and fit jay zs flow and lyrics, my next point, the lyrics, the lyrics are some of the best rap lyrics ever, jay z has a great mutli-syllable rhyming scheme, it is amazing how he can change his flow to suit every beat, he has fantastic wordplay, very clever punchlines, and a great vocabulary, his subject matter is basically, as i stated earlier, the struggles of hustling, the ups and downs, joys and sorrows, and regrets(there is a song which has this title), overall, this is one of the best rap albums ever, and any rap fan should have it, it ranks up there with the likes of ready to die, illmatic, and lifestylez ov da poor and dangerous

5.0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT WESTCOAST ALBUM, 30 Jan. 2006
This review is from: 2001 (Audio CD)
this album brilliant, dr dre proving he really is the best producer ever, even though dr dre doesnt write his own lyrics, they are written by everyone on 2001 who is not dr dre, and dr dre only does 2 songs by himself without any guest appearances, the production is what really stands out, every beat is banging, and varied, there are some relaxed beats which u can just listen to, and club beats which get you bouncing, dr dre delivers his trademark g-funk production on this, and even though people think the chronic stands out as dr dres best, i think this is better than the chronic, there are some really good guests on it such as xzibit, eminem, snoop dogg and hitman, and even though the subject matter is noraml rap topics, this is a great album to dance to at any party or club and overall this is a great album any rap fan should get,

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT WAY TO LEAVE THE RAP GAME, 19 Jan. 2006
This review is from: The Black Album (Audio CD)
this album is in my opinion jay zs 3rd best album to date, there is great production from just blaze, kanyewest, 9th wonder. There is not a skippable track on it and it has some radio friendly songs and some meaningful songs and at the same time keeps it 'street' there are some great lyriscism and unbelievably good one liners, buy this now if you like good modern rap, here are some good lines off it
"my name is hov h to the o v i used to move snowflakes by the o z, i guess even back then you could call me C-E-O of the R-O-C" call me stupid but someone had to explain this to me for me to get it, so clever
"my mum and dad made love under the sycamore tree which makes me a more sicker mc than my mum would claim" something like that, you get the jist,

i have to say that this is probably the worst album i ever heard, 50 cent is one of the most overhyped rappers ever, now, i actually quite liked get rich... i thought it was a good commercial rap album with loads of good club tunes, and i liked g unit when they were underground, and i was actually quite excited about this, but it is AWFUL, its so bad its not even funny, the lyrics are terrible, completely no multi-bar rhyming, no good punchlines, no clever lyrics, nothing 50 has a really bad flow, i wouldnt even say he was rapping, he was talking, the beats are ok, nothing special but not terrible, very commercial, but the beats dont save this, all the songs are about the same thing over and over, guns, drugs, money, degrading women, and that lame diss piggy bank? jadakiss murdered 50 on checkmate, nas buried him on the suitably titled MC burial, and even fat joe murdered him on my fo fo, everyone knows that 50 got shot 3 times, not 9, 9 bullets were fired at him, he is a complete snitch, he criticised ja rule for going pop, but what does he do? make possiby the worst song ever, candy shop, as my msn mate bruce put it 'the whole g unit thing is falling apart', also, dont get yayos album, he is even worse than chingy, and speaks like he is mentally retared, dont buy this, REAL HIP HOP FOR EVER, IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE, CANIBUS, BIG L, BIGGIE, NAS, WU-TANG,JAY Z, DONT BUY THIS UNLESS YOU ARE INTO HIP-POP, PEACE

5.0 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVABLY GOOD, 26 Dec. 2005
i cannot stress how good this album is and how talented big l really was, he has the most brilliant and clever lyrics ive heard, the production is very old school but brilliant, every song is a classic, big l is amazingly underrated and i have only met two other people who have this but they both agree its brilliant. he raps about important issues such as racism of police, how kids in the ghettos should go to school instead of selling drugs, girls who go out with you for your money, and the most ironic of all, how rappers who are rubbish and do not even write their songs go multi platinum(50 cent) and rappers are brilliant hardly get any record sales, this is ironic because its what happened to him. anybody who even remotely like rap should own this and even if u dont i think you would appreciate the genius of this. It was a great loss to the rap world when big l died and i think had he stayed alive he would be crowned THE BEST RAPPER ever. also the guests on this are great too(although not as good as big l) and though most of them are unknown it has a young jay z who raps the best ive ever heard him rap(and i have five of his albums including reasonable doubt) and a young camron who was then kill cam, hes not bad either.Big l has lines such as"step to this you get shanked up, i knocked out so many teeth the tooth fairy went bankrupt" pure genius and "im undefeated thats the stone truth cos battlin me is like fightin a gorilla in a phonebooth, and countless other lines, you cant not own this and call yourself a rap fan, buy it now, today if possible your missing out on a lot of enjoyment

This review is from: Illmatic (Audio CD)
i have to agree with other reviewers and call this the best rap album ever, the lyrics on this album are quite possibly the best lyrics written in any form of music, nas has an amazing multi-syllable rhyming scheme, he uses incredible alliteration, and flows amazingly over every song. The beats are done by pete rock, big LES, dj premier, q tip and the large professor, and even though some people reviewing illmatic say the beats arent very good, i think they are actually very creative and interesting, and the producers of illmatic were the best producers around when illmatic was made, as i said before, the lyrics of illmatic are truely amazing, and its unbelievable that a 20 year old(thats how old nas was when he made illmatic) could think up lyrics like this, nas also has an interesting, voice, which makes the album better, nas paints such a perfect picture of the violent environment he grew up in, and perfectly describes his thoughts on his environment, even though he does talk about drug dealing and shooting people, he does not only rap about those things, he also raps about raps about his depression, his daughter, dead friends, and hardship of life , illmatic tells tales of shootouts, friends in prison, and crew loyalties, all with unbelievable lyrics flow, and delievery,
