This review is from: A Garden Enclosed (Kindle Edition)
I purchased the Kindle edition because the book is out of stock at the major Christian bookshop where I would normally make my purchases. However, I was disappointed to find that both the Subject Index and the Name Index are missing from this edition. Since I anticipate using the book a good deal for study and reference work, I really need those indices, so I have returned my purchase. I have reconciled myself to the prospect of paying more for the old fashioned paper version.

4.0 out of 5 stars No active table of contents, 26 Jan 2013

Please note that the book summary on Amazon is incorrect: this book does not have an Active Table of Contents. This is a pity, because it reduces the usefulness of the book as a reference tool.

3.0 out of 5 stars Defective navigation, 1 Aug 2012

The Kindle version of this book suffers from a major drawback: There is no simple way to skip to the beginning of the second or third volumes. The 'Table of contents' at the start of the book only covers volume 1. Either it should be a combined TOC for all three volumes, or it should be preceded by links to jump to the TOCs for vols 2 and 3.

... not with Spurgeon (he is always excellent) but with the formatting of this document. it contains hard line breaks, so in portrait mode a word or two wraps to a new line. i.e. it has not been formatted for the kindle properly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and well worth the money, 22 Aug 2006

When you are out for a walk it is inconvenient carrying one book on birds, one on trees, one on wild flowers, etc. I wanted a book which would cover all these area - and this book fits the bill admirably (in fact it covers many more areas besides). The only minor criticism I would make is that the section describing trees includes a photograph of either the whole tree or a leaf/fruit for each variety. To assist identification it would have been more useful to have included both items; with the relatively small number of trees included in the book this would not have added much to its bulk. However, do not let this deter you from purchasing this excellent book!
