5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Jupiters Travels, 4 Mar 2013

While it may be stating the obvious you have to be interested in travel and have some understanding of motorcycles to really appreciate this book. The narrator is a warm character and the charm of the book comes from the fact that "he did it his way". His approach defies the normal conventions. His bike was underpowered and and his gear and equipment were cobbled together and picked up during the journey. Another writer could have described the journey negatively as a series of mis-adventures but his eternal optimistm shone through and made it a life affirming read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Novel luggage, 4 Mar 2013

Only used this once so far and therefore cannot really comment on durability yet. However, the bag is a quality product. It appears to be well made, as would be expected from Berghaus. Everything works as it should and the ability to carry as a rucksack was a "deal-maker" for me.

In-ear headphones often become uncomfortable over time but these do not. The sound is pretty good but more importanly for me they do not fall out during exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough guide & nicely written, 4 Mar 2013

Authentic feel to text and very informative. You would not really take this book with you when travelling by bicycle but it is great for planning and dipping into sections as required. Small sections desrcribing personal experiences is an added bonus.

Easy to change lenses. Stylish frames. Soft pouch for holding glasses could be slighly bigger for easier access. Does the job.

Snug fit for garmin cycle computer. Soft feel protects screen and small pocket just fits lead nicely. Probably insufficient protection for dropping.

A Life Too Short: The Tragedy of Robert Enke
A Life Too Short: The Tragedy of Robert Enke
Price: £4.68

4.0 out of 5 stars Insightful read, 11 Mar 2012
I foumd this book to be a compelling read. It provides both insights into professional sport and the issue of depression. It felt to me like the author really got into the head of Robert Enke and the book had an intimate feel. Perhaps the term tradegy is used too freely but it was entirely appropriate here. You don't need to be interested into sport to get a lot from this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Witty ditty, 11 Mar 2012
Sedaris is probably an aquired taste, but I find his observations on life witty and occasional 'laugh out loud' The material is in chunks rather than a single narrative and sections have been used in some of his 'stand-up routines' I have listened to on the radio. The book is an easy read but no less satisfying for that. I will certainly purchase another Sedaris.
