Price: £14.99

3.0 out of 5 stars with paintings it would be better, 29 Mar. 2013

This review is from: Advanced Bird ID Guide (Paperback)
A lot of information also about identification of subspecies . The taxonomy used splits too much, with, for example, Yellow Wagtails divided into 9 species

2.0 out of 5 stars A view of patagonian wildlife, 29 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The book, in english and spanish, gives general information among different habitats and provides also to a list with pictures of all birds and mammals and of commoner plants, reptiles, amphibians and butterflies. Using the small pictures (not always good), you can give a name to hundreds of patagonian species

4.0 out of 5 stars Paintings good, but not like in the european Collins, 29 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's a good guide, with many paintings of each species (male, female, juvenile, flight, commoner subspecies); but they are also a bit too artistic, not really like in the reality as in the european Collins field Guide. It has very good maps, all showing distribution of each subspecies, on islands too. Texts not everytime enough for the identification of females and youngs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great work, 27 July 2011
All the sea mammals (but one, European Otter that is commonly seen in the Atlantic coasts of Northern Europe...) are described and illustrated with a lot of great paintings (that show most of the morphs of each species: male, female, juvenile, subspecies, dorsal view, etc) and pictures (also about very rare seen species like Longman's Beaked Whale!!).
Probably the best work of ever about seamammals!!
