5.0 out of 5 stars Cool phone and fast delivery, 23 Mar. 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When I bought, this phone was offered by two companies; I chose to buy from the Italian-based company. Delivery was impressive - the estimated delivery was up to 4 weeks - in reality it was dispatched the day after I ordered and turned up by DHL less than 24 hours after that.

As expected, the phone came with a European 2-pin charger (handy when I'm in Europe - and my existing UK chargers are compatible at home) and Quick Start Guide written in Italian - not a problem as the English language manual is available on the internet. LG's 24-month warranty (based on EU Directive 1999/44/EC) was also in Italian, and states that it is 'valid only for the Italian market' - although having checked that directive, if you purchase goods or services from another EU member state that are advertised in the UK, then English / Scottish consumer law applies (which also incorporates the minimum requirements of the directive). And a manufacturer's warranty doesn't absolve the retailer of responsibility. But hopefully there will be no problems with the device anyway...

A for the phone itself, it booted up to an English display. A minor niggle is that the boot and shutdown animations incorporate the branding of a well known mobile phone network - with root access it should be possible to replace them. A bonus is that it came with a spare gold plastic back. Looking good so far.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK - but there must be a better product out there., 13 Jan. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Purchased these and Eclipse fluid after the Dust-Aid Platinum Sensor Cleaner Kit failed to remove all the spots.

Well, they may be the 'ultimate in purity', but that doesn't stop filaments coming off them. After using half a pack to chase filaments around the sensor, I finally removed them all and ended up with a clean lens. I'd probably got through almost the whole pack had I not thought, after discarding the first couple, of carefully removing and turning the pads over to use the other side too.

Not the simple process that I had hoped. There must be a better swab out there. I'll be trying some others.

July 2015 update
==============
Well, the most effective method discovered so far is a DIY version of this product. Take the plastic spatula from one of these, and wrap it with a slightly cut-down and folded-up Pec Pad (folded into 4, with both cut edges wrapped inside), secured with the elastic band. It works - not perfectly - but much better (deserving of 4 stars). And much cheaper too.

Interestingly, Pec Pads are also made by Photographic Solutions. Maybe they have intermittent quality control problems?

1.5TB LaCie Rugged Mini USB3.0 Shock-resistant Portable Hard Drive

5.0 out of 5 stars No problems so far. Recommended., 28 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've been using a pair of these for a couple of months, with no problems so far. I also have a pair of the faster but lower capacity LaCie Rugged Mini USB 3.0/ USB 2.0 500GB Hard Disk Drive - 7200rpm, which have been performing well for 18 months. All 4 drives are kept in Duronic HDC2 Small Black EVA Cases, which fit them like a glove.

Although I wasn't expecting it, both drives both came with 12 months of 10Gb free cloud storage on LaCie's Wuala service - however since there are no instructions on how to claim it, don't consider that a bonus!

5.0 out of 5 stars No problems after 18 months. Recommended., 28 Aug. 2014
I've been using a pair of these drives for backup purposes for 18 months now, without problems. When not in use, they're kept in the Duronic HDC2 Small Black EVA Case, which fits them like a glove. Both products recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not too salty, good taste, recommended., 28 Aug. 2014

I purchased these after finding the Cypressa brand way too salty. These have a much better salt balance - I can actually taste the beans. And they contain only beans, sunflower oil and salt. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended as alternative PC speakers - great sound, good looks, good price. Some transformer hum may be an issue, 27 Aug. 2014
Despite being marketed as 'DJ monitors', I bought these instead of regular PC speakers, mainly for music and film, rather than gaming, and I drive them from the motherboard, not a separate sound card. They do take up more desk space than regular PC speakers. I got mine from amazon.fr, where they are, at the time of writing, around 20% cheaper (even after the extra shipping charge); if you do the same you'll have to replace the power cord with a UK version (it's a plug-in figure-of-8 type), or use a travel adaptor.

The good news is that I've tried the speakers with a wide range of modern and classical music and they have an excellent sound quality and a generate a reasonable sound stage. The bass won't shake your windows, but it is punchy, and when turned up the bass cones push a good quantity of air. Volume starts to drop off noticeably below 110Hz. No complaints about the mid range and treble. Each speaker is apparently rated at 20W RMS - so 40W RMS total (not 80W, as you might be lead to think by the product name) - adequate to fill a regular living room. And, with the yellow bass cones, they look cool, though they do lack a grille for protection. The bass and treble controls allow limited (but adequate) adjustment.

The bad? On delivery there was an unacceptably annoying hum from the transformer - not transmitted through the cones, just from the transformer itself. I returned the speakers and got a replacement. The replacement is a little different - a quiet hum for 20 minutes, then an annoying loud hum for 20 minutes, then it falls perfectly silent. I'd prefer the transformer to be in a remote box, not in the speaker housing, but no doubt this is a cost compromise. The only other minor annoyance is that the on-off switch is located, slightly inconveniently, behind the speaker.

Overall these are a great alternative to PC speakers, offer excellent value for money in their price band, and the positive features outweigh the slight standby hum (otherwise I would have exchanged the first delivery for a different brand, instead of getting a replacement). Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Look good, do their job and don't leave marks on the floor, 23 Jun. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought these to replace the existing castors on an office chair that were constantly marking the floor. Although marketed as hard floor casters, I was a little sceptical about their ability to leave the floor unmarked; I shouldn't have been - and should have bought them sooner. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quiet fan - and space-saving too., 23 Jun. 2014
I bought this fan to replace the Thermalright fan that is bundled with the HR-02 Macho Rev.A cooler. It's very pretty much silent in normal use, rising to gently noticeable when working flat out, and is continuing to perform well after a few months of use. Better still, it gained me an extra 10mm of space - just what I needed to get the Macho to fit.

2.0 out of 5 stars Edible, but way too much salt, 23 Jun. 2014
Sadly, this is a great snack spoiled by way too much salt, so despite the attractive price, I'll not be purchasing them again.
Update: I recommend the Gancedo brand as a much more pleasant experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good solution, 21 Mar. 2014

This is an easy way of providing colour correction - it's easy to fit and makes a significant difference to the video. However you do need to be aware of whether it is over the lens or not before filming - it can be knocked out of position.
