5.0 out of 5 stars Like another reviewer I bought a pull switch from Homebase, 22 Nov 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Like another reviewer I bought a pull switch from Homebase, then bought another from them when that one failed after nine months. When the second one failed too after only another three months I looked around for something more solid and more likely to last. This seems to be it so far. The switching mechanism (the Homebase ones are about the quality of a ballpoint pen clicker) gives a good firm click, and it just feels a whole step up in terms of durability.

Samsung's Ativ Tab is a very interesting and capable Windows 8 tablet, but they should have made their own keyboard cover standard issue for it. The on-screen Windows touch keyboard is very poor, has limited options for configuration and takes up half the screen. Unlike with Android, which has hundreds, there are no better options available as apps. This machine needs a keyboard, and although Samsung (still!) state that one of theirs can be bought there are none to be had either online or on the high street.

So this keyboard cover is very welcome if you have an Ativ Tab without the standard keyboard (I was given mine). And for the price it's not too bad. It works, not perfectly, but far better than the touch on-screen keyboard. The Ativ fits exactly in the sleeve. It looks okay. It comes with clear set-up instructions. It's just a keyboard, so no touchpad; finger or pen or arrow buttons have to do that job. Downsides: what was a slim, compact and light tablet turns into a bit of a heavy lump when all of this is wrapped round it. And the keyboard needs charging (mini-usb) so that's one more cable to pack and one more thing to remember to do. Overall, though, very welcome and a very reasonable price.

An amazing story of human strength (and weakness), from one of an increasingly endangered species, a politician who was not born, educated and raised into a political career. Easy to read and memorable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great golf shoes, but....., 27 Sep 2014
...my pair (not exposed to anything in the way of severe weather or lack of care) have faded rapidly from the rich tan colour shown in all the pictures to a rather unattractive prosthetic beige. The leather doesn't seem to hold any sort of polish (presumably because of the waterproofing treatment) so getting them back to what I had hoped for, a nice natural leather colour, has so far proved impossible. They're extremely comfortable, and I like Ecco shoes, but I wouldn't buy another pair of these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ideal for work on the move, 18 Jan 2013
After a week with this laptop I'm really impressed. Yes, the storage capacity is small, but the SSD helps make the machine really quick to boot, and of course helps its very slim dimensions and light weight, as well as its cool operation. The screen is good, the keyboard is above average, the speakers can handle rock music and jazz well but classical less so. The touchpad doesn't have separate buttons which has taken me a bit of getting used to. It comes with Windows 8 which also has a steep learning curve after Windows 7, but after downloading a program called Startisback, most of the problems have gone and I have a W7 environment to work with, without losing the speed of W8. Still have some of the awful XBox programs to work with though. I am using the Cloud for most of my large files now, so storage not such an issue, with backup on a USB stick. Talking of which, big fault so far is that the charging USB socket is positioned so close to the laptop's power cable that most USB's won't fit while the laptop is connected, which seems badly thought-through. Other small issue: the screen is heavy, and if you lift the laptop up quickly by the base it can flop backwards, which won't be doing the hinge much good.

All told, though, I'm delighted.

Samsung 10.1 inch Book Cover Case for Galaxy Tab - Black
Samsung 10.1 inch Book Cover Case for Galaxy Tab - Black
Offered by Hale Communications
Price: £14.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Smart, well made but..., 26 Jan 2012
This is a good quality case which protects the Galaxy Tab 10.1 well without being too bulky. It's plastic, but the material is not unattractive. Its design flaw, at least for me, is that the flap has to be left open if the USB/charging cable is plugged in. Not a great problem, but untidy. I have punched a slot in mine to allow the flap to be closed and the cable then to be attached. As others have said, if you want it at a gentle slope, the Tab will be upside down and some apps may not respond, but then some of them don't even recognise landscape format... Overall though, it's a good case and well worth it at this price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Shallow interior - Plutus better for larger watches, 25 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a lovely-looking piece of kit, but turned out to be too shallow for my (not unusually bulky) watches, which hit the inside of the lid. I exchanged it for one of the Plutus range, which is much more spacious - and cheaper as well. Watch-Shop are nice people to deal with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy in black, 21 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this as a present for someone, and although they are pleased with it, I would strongly recommend shopping around for alternatives. This is not a slim, light go-anywhere netbook; it's really chunky and heavy. It comes loaded with bloatware which slows it down - unforgivable in a machine with fairly limited processing capability. The touchpad keys are an ergonomic nightmare - hard to distinguish easily by touch from their surroundings, stiff to click. The black surfaces show every fingermark. The screen's viewing angles are very limited - it starts to grey out quickly if you look from anywhere other than straight on. It's not particularly cheap either. Oh, and one more thing, the power cable tip simply doesn't locate securely in its socket, so the simplest of moves can put it back onto battery power again. Really irritating. If I hadn't given this as a gift, I'd be sending it straight back.

Apollo 22mm Brown Oiled Leather Watch Strap With Nubuck Lining

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, but "oiled leather"?, 24 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It's hard to dislike a strap at this price, and this one is certainly clean and simple. But if you're looking for oiled leather, at least as I understand the term, look elsewhere. Initially this does have something of a look of oiled leather but it is in fact a semi-matt skin finish. As a result it crinkles a bit with use, especially when buckling the strap on or off. The brown has a reddish quality to it, not quite ox-blood but going in that direction. Well worth the money, however. If I were Apollo I would consider putting a brushed or matt buckle on this one, as I think it is more likely to be considered with less formal watches.
