5.0 out of 5 stars Undeniably hilarious, 13 Nov 2009
Stanley Baxter suited the half-hour series format every bit as much as the TV special. Nobody and nothing was safe from being sent up by him - from "Stars on Sunday" to the "Sunday Stir" tabloid, from "Whicker's World" to "Holiday 81" - all in the best possible taste, but all excrutiatingly funny. Every episode a TV gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intensely funny, but heart-warming too, 31 Aug 2009
With the funniest female actress at the helm, and a fantastic supporting cast, that this series is gonna make you laugh is a given. But also, you just can't help warming to Wendy Craig's character, the boys, Auntie, David Redway. By the end of the series, they feel almost like part of your own family. And that "will they, won't they" theme that pervades the series is addictive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect combination, 18 Jun 2009
Definitely one of the best sitcoms of the 1980s, this will have you in side-splitting laughter almost from start to finish. Tony Britton, Nigel Havers and George Layton were a comedic trio to be reckoned with. BUT...when, oh when is the next series going to be released?

5.0 out of 5 stars Top entertainment from the king of mimics, 18 Jun 2009
This is perfect, top-notch entertainment, from when television was worth watching. The excellent documentary film is an invaluable supplement, and provides an opportunity to realise the mastery of the man, as well as all of the work, from the multitude of people, that went into the production of such quality TV entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of laughter, 9 Jan 2009
If ever there was the perfect sitcom, this is it. It is as sharp and witty as any sitcom could possibly be, and every bit as funny to audiences today as to those who were lucky enough to be able to enjoy it first time around. Acting, writing and production are absolutely top-notch. The comedy is so rich, there being hardly any time to wait between one laugh and the next. This, and the fact that you cannot help but warm to the characters instantly, makes for seven memorable half-hours of pure, side-splitting happiness - as was also the case with this series's three predecessors.

5.0 out of 5 stars A televisual gem, 8 Jan 2009
I was overjoyed to have spent this "Christmas With Shelley", kicking off another hilarious series. This is dry, witty, dark humour at its absolute best. Episode 3 is a particular gem, guaranteed to have you in stitches. Heartily recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Cowboys have captured Rupert., 26 Dec 2008
So Del and Rodney Trotter have got their hands on Rupert. This time next year, they'll be millionaires! It would be quite funny, if it wasn't true, and this wasn't actually this year's Rupert book.

Tourtel and Bestall were exceptionally gifted as artists and storytellers, as was Harrold as an artist. However, this present "all new" offering is far too much of a comedown for anyone, however sympathetic, to accept. After all, Rupert was never supposed to be a roughly sketched cartoon character.

Artwork, prose and verse are lifeless and bland, and lack the former ability to enthrall the reader (whatever his age) and whisk him away to Nutwood and beyond, as if on a magic carpet, and not want to come back.

Children I've asked certainly prefer Bestall's and Harrold's Rupert to his new spin-off.

5.0 out of 5 stars The essence of Pantomime, 13 Dec 2008
This is TV at its best. Whether or not you have watched Rainbow before, the top-quality acting, singing, writing, costumes and scenes, recorded before a real audience of children, will have the whole family entertained, with side-splitting laughter. Thoroughly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very strong laughter medcine, 14 Mar 2007
I love sitcoms; and I'm a bit of a classic sitcom connoisseur, and there have certainly been some great ones. "Bless This House", if the first series is anything to go by, is right up there with the greatest. The plots are genuinely funny, so is the production and, above all, the cast. You can warm to them as if they're your own family, and this, combined with laughing at some of the truly hilarious situations until your sides ache, makes for a real tonic - an antidote to the depressing realities of life. This is feel-good-factor television at its best.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Striking Solo Manoevre, 1 Jan 2007
Agnetha Fältskog is surely one of the most - if not the most - widely admired female pop vocalists from Sweden, and probably the most recognized of Abba's two female vocalists. This English-language album was Agnetha's first 'after Abba'. When originally released in June 1983, it spent 13 weeks in the British charts, peaking at number 18. It contains a lively, energetic, intelligent selection of songs, and Agnetha's vocals contain that crystal-clear, emotional, sexy property that has made her such a star.
