5.0 out of 5 stars Snapshot Of A Great Career, 13 July 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Revolutions - The Very Best Of Steve Winwood features sixteen tracks from a career dating back to the Spencer Davis Group period up to the present. As such it can only scratch the surface of a stellar career. However the tracks are well chosen and the selection is as good as you could get on a single cd.

My favourite period of Steve Winwood's career was his time with the Spencer Davis Group. This is represented by four tracks: Keep On Running,Somebody Help Me,Gimme Some Lovin' and I'm A Man. The digital remastering has these tracks sounding better than ever and breathes new life into these classic songs.

The collection on this cd then rolls on through the Traffic, Blind Faith and solo periods. This is a collection to enjoy. Highly recommended to all Steve Winwood fans and devotees of great music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Gem, 13 July 2010

This review is from: Live At The Troubadour (Audio CD)
This CD/DVD of Carole King/James Taylor Live At The Troubadour is a real gem. The dvd is very enjoyable from start to finish. It is great to see two performers of this calibre at the very top of their game and backed by a stellar band. The interplay between Carole King and James Taylor is a treat to see. James Taylor is a very laconic person and could have made it as a stand up comic if he hadn't had a musical career.

This cd/dvd combo is highly reccomended and is very good value at this price. Very good sound and vision quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great 60's time capsule, 4 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This dvd receives 4 stars because of the content and not necessarily the quality although that is quite acceptable considering the age of the source material. The sound quality is quite good throughout and is uniform. Some of the vision is a bit grainy but generally OK.

I thought Dave Clark owned the rights to the Ready Steady Go program so I am not sure if this is an authorised dvd or not.

That said there is over two hours of performances by a wide range of British and US artistes of the sixties. There is lot of footage of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones neither of which figure prominently on most sixties dvd compilations. Most performances are lip synched but this doesn't really detract from the performances.

The vision of the Beatles shows what a great sense of humour they had. This dvd is worth having as a time capsule of what was a great era in music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare look at Rick Nelson live, 4 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This dvd must be somewhat of a collectors item as the only place I have ever seen it is on Amazon.uk.

The dvd was filmed live at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles in August 1985 shortly before his tragic death.

I had to crank the volume up on my copy but when I did the sound was very good and the vision quality is also excellent. There are 15 songs in the live performance and he is backed by the Jordanaires vocal group who used to back Elvis. The band features an upright bass so there is a real rockabilly feel to a lot of the songs. Rick was an amazing live performer with a great voice and great timeless songs. If you like great live performances this dvd is highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tremeloes Jam Packed With Songs, 4 Jan 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great sounding dvd considering the age of the source material. There are 20 songs on the main part of the dvd and a further 7 songs contained in the extras. The sound quality is uniformly good throughout the whole 27 songs. The vision is generally good with the odd bit of graininess on some songs.

The performances are generally lip synched with a few songs live. The live songs prove what a great band the Tremeloes were.

This is a very enjoyable dvd and is recommended for any fan of British sixties music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great British Invasion DVD Box Set, 13 Oct 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The British Invasion Box set features four dvd's and a bonus CD. The artists featured are Gerry & Pacemakers, Small Faces, Herman's Hermits and Dusty Springfield.

The great feature of the dvd's is that full versions of the songs are shown. Each dvd has at least 20 songs on them and many of the songs are live performances. The dvd's also feature interviews with surviving members of the bands. Another good feature is that you can play just the songs without the interviews and when you do this there are bonus performances as well.

The box set is very well packaged and each dvd contains a very comprehensive booklet on the artists history.

The sound and vision quality is very good considering the age of the material. The sound is mixed in 5.1 as well as stereo.

I am looking forward to more artists appearing in the British Invasion series of dvd's.
