Having read Mr Kiernan's previous book about crossing Britain in a milk float, I was looking forward to The Idle Traveller.
What a let down! After initial promise where Mr Kiernan writes about his experiences of travelling and his decision to explore nearer to home, the book descends into what appears to be reviews of other peoples' (often historic) writing.
I tried to wade through the morass of tedium but gave up through lack of interest.
Mr Kiernan's own thoughts are insightful and interesting. His repetitive references to other authors are frankly boring.
