3.0 out of 5 stars Not what i expected…., 25 Mar 2014

NOT WHAT IT IS IN THE PICTURE

If you are looking to build the tank you see in the first picture, you can't with this kit.
It only sends you the things that are in the picture which only involves making an arduino box…
No yellow planks or tires included

If you want to build the tank, look elsewhere

But aside from the fact that i couldn't build the tank, the kit arrived very quickly and was nicely packaged
Just not what i was expecting….

4.0 out of 5 stars Works really well, but..., 7 Feb 2014
This worked like a miracle for two weeks then the mechanism under the chin that keeps the nose loop tight became loose. There is no buckle so it relies on plastic 'teeth' to grip the cord. This means that our dog can easily work it loose and wriggle out of it, obviously totally defeating the whole point of it. I'm going to order another one because even 2 weeks of pull-free walking is frankly worth the purchase price but would be interested to know if other people have had this problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it, 29 Jan 2014

Although this book is shot through with sadness and regret it is beautifully written, quietly poignant and thought provoking. I could relate to many of her observations on ageing, on motherhood, on how we define ourselves or are defined by others, on love and the absence of love. And on counting one's blessings. It's not an easy read and I don't think I found it funny, as one reviewer did, but it is very much worth reading if you are a woman of a certain age with literary tastes. She also includes a brilliant reading list which is worth the purchase price in itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best slow cooker book I have bought, 5 Nov 2013
I have 4 slow cooker books including the one from Hamlyn (which probably everyone has as it's so cheap) but this is by far the best. Recipes you ACTUALLY WANT TO COOK and they are real family crowd-pleasers. Perfect for winter one-pot wonders, I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remarkable, 9 Oct 2013

It is always interesting to know the real story behind the headlines and I had followed the press coverage of Judith's kidnapping and her husband's murder, often wondering how she was coping. She manages to give a very clear-eyed account of her ordeal, weaving in background stories of her marriage, childhood, job etc to build up a fascinating picture of a modest but resilient woman caught up in an utterly terrifying experience. She even has the grace to give an often sympathetic view of her captors although she is under no illusions of their motivations and capabilities. Even though we know the outcome of the story it never fails to captivate and grip the reader. Her recall of details is astonishing and her sheer determination to survive is a lesson in resilience to us all.

4 stars only as paper is quite thin so felt tip shows through. Still worth it though and nice choice of covers.

5.0 out of 5 stars ideal for teenagers' bedrooms, 24 Sep 2013

I no longer have to nag my daughter to tidy up her room. If she leaves clothes all over the 'floordrobe' I just pick them up and shove it in these baskets. Then it's up to her if she wants scrumpled up clothes. Ideal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bit of a disappointment, 31 May 2013

I really wanted to like this, having done my time at school gates and on PTAs. However it didn't live up to the hype, and certainly didn't reflect my experience. Although the story canters along nicely and raised the odd smile, the characters are not much more than cardboard cutouts - the Queen Bee, the wannabees, the earth mother, the sexy headmaster etc., the plot is predictable and didn't offer anything new or profound about women or the way they interact or the experience of raising children. The most interesting idea (and I think the author means this to be some kind of defining concept, her Big Idea) - that women's apparently trivial gossip is the glue that binds them together and keeps the whole thing going - is belied by the general bitchiness of the dialogue throughout and the general lack of support the characters show each other. And the bee analogy - a bit cringey, frankly. Men - don't read this book: women at the school gates are far cleverer, funnier and more interesting than this author would have you believe.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will make you feel worse, 13 April 2013
Firstly, this is very American. Shopping lists include ingredients like 'bison' 'tilapia' 'escarole' and 'jicama'. It's full of case studies which didn't seem relevant to me. It is very prescriptive, spells out exactly what you should be doing each day (6.30am - wake up and lie in bed getting ready for your day. Do Belly Breathing Exercise. 7.15 drink 2/3 glasses of water with lemon. 7.30 breakfast from the meal plan. 8.00 shower and dress.' And so it goes on. Purleese! We have lives! Children! Teenagers! Work! And it pushes supplements like there's no tomorrow. The menopause can be a tricky time, ok, so let's not make it harder for ourselves. Jenny Murray's book is so much better.
