5.0 out of 5 stars Long cable, fits snugly in the lighter socket, 19 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this to use with iPhone and bluetooth hands free. No problems so far. Charges my iPhone with no issues. Both cable and charger are well made and comes with a long cable which is handy for cigarette lighters that aren't that close to the front of the dashboard. Good value in my opinion when compared with cheaper products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid product, well made, sticks to windscreen with no problems, 19 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A friend of mine had this mount and I was very impressed with how adjustable and stable it was. You can tilt the angle and position of the iPhone and use it horizontal or vertical. The function on the windscreen is excellent, but so to id the quick release making it easy to get off the screen, especially in a hurry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works with Macbook Air but very poor plastic build, 22 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ordered to use with my macbook air and it works fine off one USB connector despite another reviewing stating it doesn't. They obviously didn't test it. Despite this, it is made of very flimsy plastic. So if the unit is placed on a flat surface and you attempt to press the open tray button with your fingers placed even lightly on top of the unit to stop it slipping, you will find the thin plastic top flexes and interferes with opening as well as closing. The CD/DVD tray itself is very poor quality and moves considerably to the left and right, not to mention not sliding in and out very well. Don't even consider picking the unit up if you have a disc in it as it will sound like it is shredding the disc.

I had previously purchased the Samsung SE-S084F External USB 2.0 Slimline 8X DVD Writer and it is well made, solid and certainly worth the extra money. Personally, I would stay away from this Samsung SE-208AB unit and spend the extra money. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for and this unit is poorly made. Your main question should be how often you intend to use it, because once in a while may be fine, but if you rely on it regularly, think twice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable product, decent price. Good alternative to Apple Ethernet Adapter, 3 Jan. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought to use with Apple Macbook Air based on recommendation of another reviewer. Very pleased with performance and the quality, given this is a 3rd party product. Was a bit worried about not buying the Apple Ethernet adapter as I have limited experience with Apple Macs and wasn't sure about how compatible 3rd party products really are. Have to say I had nothing to worry about. Just completed a 12Gig Time MAchine initial backup in around 15 minutes, so very pleased overall given that USB 2 will limit the overalls speed this adapter can achieve, i.e. it won't achieve true Gigabit because of the 480Mbits/s limitation of USB2. Recommended to both Windows and Apple Users. Note, get your driver from

4.0 out of 5 stars Very fast, good quality, quiet and cool but poor battery, 9 July 2011
I have debated buying this laptop for months. Even checked it out in the highstreet several times before committing mainly because people's reviews are indifferent. Some good and some bad. I can truly say though, it is a delight. The screen is high quality, bright and vibrant for videos, and with the HD 1950x1080 res you can work with multiple windows open as you have so much desktop space available. This is great for using office applications or programming.

The keyboard is rock solid. This was key as I am a heavy typer and a lot of the latest laptops have flex and bend in the middle. Not this one. The mouse track pad has given me no issues. I noticed it had a slightly rubbery feel from new, out of the box, but with gentle use this wore off very quickly and it works a treat for me. Much better than my Dell Latitude business laptop.

Despite what a previous reviewer stated, there is no flex in the chasis. Again it's solid and the screen has a tough lid. The point is though, it's not a very portable device, you would mainly use this in one place, so picking it up on the corner of the CD/DVD drive with one hand is not something you would even consider doing often and there is a mild amount of flex under the CD/DVD there, but be assured this device is well constructed.

As for performance, it's the fastest laptop I have ever used and boots / hibernates / shutsdown very quickly. It has a dedicated ATI graphics card so games and video editing are easily possible. Photoshop doesn't even flex its muscles. When pushing it the fan comes on, but it pumps out the hot air quickly and goes off again. My experience is that the device stays cool when used on the lap and does not get boiling hot on the underside.

It's not best used on battery and if this is your main intended use, look elsewhere, maybe Acer. 1.5 hrs for average use such as using microsoft office and surfing the internet with wireless on is all your going to get. But this is a powerhouse machine and therefore, one would assume you bought it to do serious work or watch DVDs and will connect to mains power anyway.

Overall, despite my initial worries from reading other reviews, it has been well worth the purchase, esepcially as it is now significantly discounted from the original retail price. Look around and get yourself a bargain.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing ending. Starts well but plot is obvious from half way point, 23 Dec. 2007
This review is from: Illegal Action (Hardcover)
I had high hopes for this book, being a fan of crime and espionage thrillers, but don't be fooled by the reviews on the back. Unfortunately there is no real plot and 2 or 3 pages could have easily summed the whole book up. Without giving it away I stuck with it, but from less than half way through, it's disappointingly obvious who all the double crossing characters are and even worse you have to read another hundred and fifty pages of drawn out relationships and office politics before it's confirmed in one short chapter that your thoughts on the plot and outcome were correct so many pages before. One baddy gets away and the other is shot, while there is a wannabe collegaue to boss relationship that never has a chance of engrossing you, while another poor attmept at introducing a bit of emotion leaves you cringing that the wayward son is going to die just when his father, who has always put career first, tries to make an effort. If you are an avid reader of more seasoned authors give this one a miss. The portrayal of the main characters is flimsy and never draws your imagination in. Sorry, but this was a book written for the sake of it, not because it was well thought out with interseting characters and a plot that has twists and turns that keeps you engrossed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value For Money. Reliable and Highly Recommended, 2 Mar. 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having debated for some weeks, I finally upgraded from my TomTom Bluetooth Receiver and Navigator 5 running on PDA and so far I am so pleased I took the plunge.

- Super fast fix on GPS
- Excellent clear screen
- Very good battery life, longer than TomTom 1
- Very easy to use menus, address selection and post-code is accurate.
- Speed camera database built-in. Really useful and costs extra on other more expensive models. Despite negative reviews elsewhere regarding picking up cameras that are in the vicinity but not on your side of the road, this can be turned off. Personally I'd rather have a false warning rather than a fine.
- Very sturdy, I was surprised for the price and wouldn't be afraid if I accidentally dropped it.
- Directions are clear, accurate and delivered timely in advance of next turn.

Not so positive, but remember the price:

- At low driving speed the audio directions <50 mph are clearly audible on full volume.
- My biggest bug bear, at >60 mph the audio directions arew just not loud enough due to road noise and it makes it difficult to hear, so forget having the radio on even on a low setting.
- Although the 3d maps are clear and perfectly adequate, they are not as good as TomTom. Mainly because when you are driving around town with lots of small streets, the map is often slow to update its position, thus it sometimes play catchup.
- TomTom also zooms into round-abouts much better espcecially important on large juntions with lots of exits.

Aside of these, I still think this is brilliant value for Money given it's only £[...] quid. I contemplated models around £[...] - £[...] mark and it's just not worth it unless you plan to have lots of POIs and multimedia features. Personally I believe a satnav should be just that. You can buy an iPOD or mobile for the rest.

1.0 out of 5 stars Most immature, over engineered and pop-like effort to date, 25 Aug. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I never thought I would be disappointed with a BT track, but he's lost his way and needs to take some time out. Maybe a LIVE album would have been the better option than trying to work something out with clever, but annoying samples that don't really link that well together.
Don't get me wrong, I am a massive BT fan and I have pretty much everything he's produced. But if you're a fan of BT's usual atmospheric, moody, euphoric symphonies with strong vocals, then you're in for a shock.
From the off, you can tell the production is well engineered. But it's just too chaotic... Like BT has taken all the samples he's never used, thrown them in a sequencer and hey presto, you get this album. Do you remeber walking into a space invaders arcade in the 70's/80's and being subjected to the constant mish mash of the electronic sound effects coming from everywhere? I'll say no more.
Mixing up a million samples is not the same as producing a well thought out track, with a good lyric and a strong vocal to deliver it.
Vocals throughout the album are very weak and each lyric is appallingly teenage like.
A sad, sad effort. BT take some time off, go find some solitude in a quiet place. Find some inspiration. Come back and deliver something from the heart and soul, not something for the record companies and all will be forgiven!

1.0 out of 5 stars A laboured effort, poor vocals, a step backwards, 25 Aug. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Morning Sci-Fi (Audio CD)
Following Wide Angle was always going to take some doing and I respect Hybrid for trying something a bit different. However, it's just boring. What were they thinking of using such weak vocals on these tracks which, although deep and moody, still need a strong vocal to give that atmospheric and moody edge.
The lyrics are also poor, something a teenage wannabe would probably be proud of, but not thought provoking like those on Wide Angle. You won't find yourself absorbed deep into the tracks... More like asking yourself why produce a track so depressing.
The quality of the production and engineering is as you would expect, excellent. But I'm afraid where Wide Angle was a symphony of Euphoric stature, drawing you even deeper into the tracks each time you listen and enticing you back for more, this album is about as exciting as looking at a cloudy grey sky.
I wouldn't recommend downloading it for free off the internet, and to think I've paid full retail. Another one for the Amazon market place!

Netgear FR114PUK Cable/DSL Router with 4 Port Switch
Netgear FR114PUK Cable/DSL Router with 4 Port Switch

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple to use, fast switch, makes life so safe and simple., 27 Feb. 2004
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love this device! Three devices in one and for such a small price.
The router/switch is simple to configure. Setup your IP ranges and subnet, and way to go. All Pc's get allocated an IP and they can all share the printer, without me having to leave a PC on running a DHCP server or Shared Printer. A small port driver is required on each PC to access the connected printer on the parallel port.
You will need to make sure that none of your PC's are running Internet connection sharing or any other form of DHCP server type programs, as they wil conflict. You do however have the option of turning the DHCP server off on the router and using it as a basic switch, although that somewhat defeats the purpose. Would allow you to share a USB modem device via ICS on another PC though!
The firewall is simple to setup and is very good proection just out of the box. But ports and rules are not for beginners. Note that you will also need an ethernet modem to connect to the internet if you are going to use the WAN port to it potential, so forget your Freeserve, AOL and BT USB freebies. They won't work with an ethernet WAN port. Get yourself a Netgear DM602 and you'll be laughing. Always on Internet, super fast, with firewall protection and no more messing with ICS and leaving PC's switched on.
Note that I also use Symantec Internet Securuty as added protection. However, almost zero attacks have been registered since installing the FR114 when previously I was being attacked every few minutes. The Symantec product comes with Anti-virus, and also a more comprehensive range of rules and options, so don't be complacent and just rely on the FR114!
Go on, buy one!
