It's ok, not great. Lots of the pain, the hell, the psychological stress etcetera. Not that enthral king - I wanted to know how a good average runner got to do great events. Would rather hear about the winter runs, balancing work, etc the nuts and bolts of what worked for him.

We should count ourselves lucky - a thoughtful athletes with exceptional physiology but lacking enough not to be caught by pro salaries but can use this frustration and his intelligent wit to write about it.
I loved The Hour, and this is a slightly more mature (less directly funny but more consistent) book along the same lines. Dr Hutch can look back at the path his life has taken and seeks to answer why he did not break into the pro ranks
It should be remembered that this is not an above average wannabe - he is revered in the cycling world as an exceptional athletes who has won many titles

Reliably gripping - great storyteller. Put on the same shelf as Ian Rankin!
No philosophy, no great literature, just entertaining story with well constructed plots.

Having read many other pros/ex-pros accounts, this stands out for being the best type of autobiography - insightful stories from personal viewpoint. Doesn't really get into drugs - which is a pity as who would know more?
Perhaps a more honest book may come later when the dust has settled from his high profile retirement when a reflective considered account of the extremes demanded by professional cycling would be accepted as a truthful analysis rather than gossip media fodder.

Read this if you have a concentration time of less than 10 minutes, enjoy TheSun true stories, and have a few hour of your life to waste. Otherwise don't bother as there is really nothing to this book that will abide.

Ok. Nicely paced murder mystery. Certainly keeps you interested. Not sure that I believe that police officers blanche and sweat over a nasty murder - but basically a passable few hours of entertainment.

Faster and easier to use than the web page. Definitely worth having - eBay could learn from this. Slick and quick

Nothing really to set this apart - very bad guy, good guy who is like the bad one but good, hot unattached intelligent woman etc etc etc. It has more graphic sex scenes than most similar books, that are Playboy like. Otherwise it's very predictable. If you need to read this, you must be desperate!

Paid a few pence for this rubbish - don't waste anything. A badly told, unbelievable, poorly structured piece of rubbish.

Ok book in the predictable thriller range. Not one to think about too much with a formulaic story and cardboard characters - but then if you want Shakespeare, then read a sonnet rather than this
