2.0 out of 5 stars Nothing special, 21 Aug. 2006
I generally love Atwood's books - Oryx and Crake, The Handmaid's tale and Alias Grace i couldn't put down, so this one was a disappointment to me. I found it all a little cliche - the writing was just too simple, and there were no real insights into the characters - i finished this book, but it wasn't one i enjoyed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read, but has flaws., 13 May 2006
This review is from: Never Let Me Go (Paperback)
I loved the whole concept of the book, and the descriptions of the School life of Kathy and her friends for me was the best part of the book. One thing that really disappointed me though was the ending - i just kept wondering why not a single character ever contemplated running away and beginning their dream lives since they were so obsessed with them. Also, the characters were a little undeveloped - they had one main characteristic above others, and they didn't all seem to be fully explored as characters. The theme of a socially excluded group coming to terms with their fate however was wonderful, and overall i would recommend it, as long as the flaws are kept in mind!

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Read, 4 May 2006
This review is from: The History of Love (Paperback)
I am rarely moved by books as i have been by this one - the characters were all so real, especially Leo and Alma. The description by Leo of him falling in love and getting seperated was heartbreaking, and very poignant. I loved this book, and although the ending is a little disappointing, i would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing.., 7 April 2005
This book was amazing - another reviewer said that they couldn't put it down and i was exactly the same. Whenever i put it down i was constantly thinking about the characters, and what would happen next. The characters are believable, and even time travel is dealt with in a realistic way. I would reccomend it to everyone!
