American Pie: Reunion (Blu-ray + Digital Copy + UV Copy) [Region Free]
American Pie: Reunion (Blu-ray + Digital Copy + UV Copy) [Region Free]
Dvd ~ Jason Biggs
Offered by Champion Toys
Price: £4.79

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun reunion, 20 Aug. 2012
The fourth American Pie film is good fun and in my opinion it's an improvement on the 3rd instalment. The highlight is the return of the real Stiffler. In the 3rd film the Stiffmeister had become an irritating buffoon but here he is back to his wisecracking arrogant best. Jason Biggs is likeable as ever. Him and Alison Hannigan still have great chemistry and comic timing. Unfortunately the rest of the gang don't really have much to do, apart from Jim's dad and Stiffler's mom who have a fun subplot together. This isn't a patch on the first two films but it's worth watching just to get a bit more of the old Stiffler who is one of the great comedy characters of all time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 2 April 2012
This review is from: The Beaver [DVD] (DVD)
The Beaver is quite an unusual film. It looks like it should be a comedy, and it does have some comical moments but for the most part it's a fairly serious film about a guy suffering a mental breakdown. Mel Gibson is surprisingly good at acting like a man losing his mind (*cough*). What kept this film interesting though is the fact that it was impossible to tell what direction it was going to go in. At times it follows a predictable route but every now and then it throws in a surprise turn. It's not a film I would want to watch again and again but it is definitely worth checking out because it's pretty original.

What We Did Last Summer [DVD] [2003]
What We Did Last Summer [DVD] [2003]
Dvd ~ Robbie Williams
Offered by Helgy
Price: £14.36

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 18 Jan. 2012
This DVD captures Robbie Williams at his peak. It's one of the best concerts I've ever seen and even on DVD you can feel the atmosphere. It has moments that really got the hairs up on the back of my neck. Even though he admits to being nervous at the start of the show Robbie is never anything other than wildly entertaining. This is a fine example of a performer who enjoys his concerts every bit as much as his fans.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hanna, 27 Sept. 2011
This review is from: Hanna (Blu-ray + DVD) (Blu-ray)
I was really disappointed by this film. My expectation was that I was in for some kind of Bourne Identity meets Leon action flick. In actual fact it was a very slow paced coming of age flick with a few decent action sequences in it. Eric Bana's character was interesting and held the film together whenever he was on screen but the rest of the film was very flat and quite pointless. Cate Blanchett's character was rather OTT and I didn't warm to the character of Hanna at all. This film has a few good moments but for the most part I found it very boring.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 5 Jun. 2011
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Bayonetta (PS3) (Video Game)
This game was a real let down. The graphics are fine, I appreciated the insanity of the music too, and it's also a fairly unique looking game which is intended to be fun. However, the cut scenes were really poor, often the characters stood motionless like in a cheap 70's cartoon. Then there's the constant waiting for it to load. I found that infuriating. About half an hour passed before I even felt I was involved in the game. Then there's the fight scenes which were very repetitive and frustrating due to the limited view provided by the camera and the never ending button bashing that was required. After a slow start the game did pick up a little bit, but it has to be one of the most frustrating games I've ever played.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky and entertaining, 8 Dec. 2010
This review is from: The Jacket [DVD] [2005] (DVD)
I wasn't expecting much from The Jacket. Initial reviews in the press seemed to be lukewarm. And to be honest for the first hour I found it to be quite hard work. Some of the early scenes were a little drawn out and seemed to lack cohesion. However, I'm glad I persevered with it because it turned into a really rather enjoyable film. Where the characters irritated me at first because they all seemed to be quirky and mysterious, as the story unfolded Adrian Brody's character really grew on me, as did Kiera Knightley's. Where the film starts as a quite creepy thriller it develops into a decent time travel romance, thanks largely to the chemistry of the two leads.
The ending seemed a little bit Hollywoodised but I didn't mind it too much. I actually enjoyed watching this film more second time round. It's a shame there aren't more films like this one. Well worth a look.

Apple iPod Shuffle 1GB - Silver
Apple iPod Shuffle 1GB - Silver

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 9 April 2010
I've had several different models of ipod shuffle and this is the best one. It's ridiculously simple to use and ideal for running because unlike some of the other models you don't have to use the headphones that come with it. The sound quality is excellent and it doesn't take long to charge up. Plus it's tiny and hooks on to your clothes easily if you want to go running.

I liked a lot about this game. The soundtrack is good. Most of the time it looks very impressive too. A lot of the sequences are fun, but every now and again I found it a bit bland. It's hard to put my finger on what exactly isn't great about it. It's an okay game, but it's not a classic. It feels like it was hurried out to meet a deadline and there wasn't enough time to polish up every aspect.
If you're a fan of the Bourne films then it's worth a punt because it's better than a lot of games based on films. It's just not brilliant.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing follow up, 11 Jun. 2009
I really enjoyed the first Night at the Museum film so I was excited about seeing the sequel. Unfortunately it's one of those sequels that seems to have been made simply to cash in on the success of the first. The plot is almost non-existant and so are the laughs.
Ricky Gervais provided a few laughs but was only in it for about 10 minutes. The rest of the film was a series of pointless and largely unfunny set pieces. Overall very disappointing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not run of the mill, 8 Jun. 2009
Street Kings made little impact at the box office, but it's actually a very decent film. Keanu Reeves is excellent in the lead role and his character has great depth. The film had me gripped from the first five minutes right through to the end. Although it offers up little in the way of surprises at the end, I found myself asking all kinds of questions about the characters for the first hour.
Great support from Chris Evans and Forrest Whitaker - Street Kings has a great script that takes the time to develop the characters. The script was co-written by James Ellroy which probably explains why for large parts it feels like LA Confidential set in modern day.
This is a film that is definitely worth a watch if you like a good thriller where all of the characters have depth. The bad guys have genuine reasons for being the way they are, and the good guys are flawed.
Overall, a well written thriller, with a solid cast.
