I bought this a while after I found that the KWS Band had folded.
Corey Sterling came over so well with Kenny Wayne Shepherd so I was intrigued
to see what was to follow.
Never really got to grips with this album.
It seems it didnt last long.
Where did he go after this?

1.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and inspired, 21 Feb 2010
This review is from: Ledbetter Heights (Audio CD)
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, like so many artists when new on the block.
Steaming with talent and a band so good, working as a band not a backing outfit.
Like so many, it all ended too soon.
Such great tracks, still a good listen after several years in the collection.
If you havent heard it, do so while its still available.

Lets be clear I am not a ZZ Top fan.
I like the sounds and numbers that bands or musicians make.
Just Got Paid played by Joe Bonamassa took me to ZZ Top.
Gov't Mule also played it and some of Warren Haynes numbers
are very Billy Gibbons in the riffs he chooses.
However when you play "Just Got Paid" by ZZ Top at the Rockpalast in 1980
you appreciate the nerve of the other guys who cover it.
If you want to see how its done by the originators watch these DVD's.

5.0 out of 5 stars So much effort, got where he wanted to go, What Next?, 14 Jan 2010
Joe must be one of the nicest guys in the business.
Not that he lacks determination or agression when its needed.
We met once about four years ago, in the street in Nottingham.
At the time "You and Me " was about to be released.
Watching this DVD it all comes into place.
The numbers he has played, the venues, sound engineering and the lineup.
Pity Eric and Kenny weren't there but the band he now has is an
arena style outfit with large venue experience.
Its the one chance I've had to hear Carmine on bass, as at the venues I've been to
he's been muffled by the keyboards.
An excellent performance with Just Got Paid being my personal favourite.
The interview with Joe reveals his dedication, humility and emotion.
His expressons when playing Just Got Paid reveals it all.
Well worth the money and a damn site more affordable than going to the RAH!
More mature and playing so well, whats coming next?

I came across GM with the youtube Rockpalast video.Bought A Tail of Two Cities but only ever play one CD (Chicago).
Couldnt disagree more with the guy who sees the new bass player being a seemless replacement for Andy Hess.
The new guy is an Allan woody replacement seemingly belting the strings with a lump of plastic.
Gone is the subtle, jazz orientated multi-rythmic mind boggling performance.
Back to sounding like a million other bands.
How long before they are back to a trio?
Sorry guys, I'm very, very disappointed with this recording.

I bought this after seeing them live at The Plug Sheffield.
Watched and listened to them for years on the net and DVD.
It brings back the experience (I can think of no other way to describe the live concert - yes concert not gig) Quality of sound, musicianship and relaxed presentation. Not the excitement and adrenaline of Government Mule, something entirely different to the Allman Brothers Band, something superior in sound and variety to Joe Bonamassa.Sounds of Afro, soul (touch of Curtis Mayfield there?)blues, gospel and jazz with a touch of rock just for good measure.Derek displays a mastery of slide (or is it an electric violin, synthesizer or magical instument, people ask me)he must have an incredible touch to produce the range of sounds that he achieves. The band are all excellent in their abilities, can't fault any of them, so professional and happy to be there.
I felt mesmerized, it took me back to a park in Birmingham UK in the 60's watching, more so listening to, Indo Jazz Fusion.
I'm not one to sit back and watch a performance,I want to be there in it but this is so much more and suprisingly I relax and listen.
Just like Already Free, it has become an obsessive play.

Easilly fitted this product into PS3 seems fine to date.
Not impressed with failure of original HD after 13 months.
A month later the mother board died so we no longer have a PS3.
So much for Japanese design & reliability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best band on the planet, 1 Mar 2009
Time to Confess.
I only play the second disc.
This concert is to me by far the best and rivals but (not beats) the Rockpalast recordings in my opinion.
I say my opinion because Mule are inspirational and spontaneous.
Different people see and hear them in their own way.
Thats what makes them so attractive.
Every number is different in rhythm, beat dynamics and even genre.
They move from rock to reggae, blues to jazz in their influences but do it in their own way.
Warren Haynes is far better than his so called world guitarist rating (what ignorant baffoons voted in that one)watch the close-ups of his handiwork.Andy Hess provides not only a bass line but a harmony along with the excellent keyboards (Danny Louis) and drums (Matt Abts).
A DVD worth every penny to own.

This is where I came across Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes.
I bought it with the original Allman Brothers in mind.
The late Duane Allman (with Clapton in Derek & the Dominoes on Layla)being an iconic slide guitarist.
The concert is cool and inspirational.
My personal favourites being Worried Down With The Blues and Rocking Horse.(Check it against the Gov't Mule version)
Derek and Warren are unapproachable in their guitar partnership.
This led me to their individual bands The Derek Trucks Band and Government Mule.
Whilst they are no doubt the highlight of the show this is a true band featuring Dereks uncle on drums (two drummers + percussionist) Greg Allman on Hammond organ and O'teill Burbridge on bass.
Guitarists get ready this is a real treat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Got this in my Christmas stocking, 1 Mar 2009
This review is from: The Deepest End (Audio CD)
Gov't Mule are a bit adventurous and release recordings of most of their performances, even when they auditioned for a new bass player to replace the late Allan Woody.
This was such an event, featuring many of the top rated (whatever that means to you)bassists jamming with the band.
Unfortunately its not their best DVD but you have to admire their nerve.
No doubting their professionalism but unless you are into a string of bass players following on without any rehearsals you might find it hard going.
Buy it for the curiosity value but dont judge the band from it or just buy it anyway, they deserve the royalties.
Best band on the planet!
