5.0 out of 5 stars It may not solve your problem ..., 8 May 2011

Make sure you check where your 3.5mm input/microphone socket is first - some laptops have them at the back and this does not come with any cable! My microphone recording on my laptop is very very low and difficult to hear when using Skype. I bought this product to see if it would fix that problem - it did not! However, this is a great little gadget to have and I will just have to spend a little more time trying to resolve my sound issues - so I would just be a little cautious as to whether the problem lies with your own internal microphone or is a software issue. As this plugs into your 3.5mm jack plug it is not auto-detected like a USB device. UPDATE: I updated my sound card software drivers and my sound input works - this mini microphone makes the input sound a lot clearer and louder than my internal MIC which is on my laptop lid. Would highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still a Classic ... just, 8 May 2011

I have outgrown the Young Ones a little - but at the time when it first came out it was incredible. Without doubt Rik and Neil steal the show and the best moments for me is the banter between Neil and Rik. Without doubt one or two of these episodes are the funniest ever in TV comedy, unfortunately, too many are a little week to back it up as the greatest TV comedy ever. But this is great if you just want to sit back, rewind the clock a little and watch some anarchic, fast-moving, youth based, 80s comedy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Heavy Going ..., 8 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
One of the most influential and greatest books ever written - but what a drag! I could not recommend this for a general read to anyone. The information in this book is second to none and you can do like I did and skip the many pages of commodity prices over the centuries! The social and economic information is fascinating, and there are many little treasures to be read, for example, how unpopular bankers were even in the 18th Century by paying customers out large sums of money in pennies to prevent a run on the bank! For those who have a professional interest in social, economic and political life this of course is a "must" read, however, for the lay person I would not recommend you bother with this but instead pick up a general book on the subject that maybe outlines Adam Smith and his writings in todays language. This is extremely heavy going ... and very very very verbose!

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 8 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Heart of Darkness (Kindle Edition)
I read this book many years ago and used to be a great "fan" of Joseph Conrad. To me, this has not stood the test of time. Charlie Marlow reminds me of that kind of annoying person who constantly tells you war stories! Ok that is harsh but this book doesn't really seem to go anywhere for me and as for it looking into the inner-most depths of a person and the continent of Africa vs civilization of the white man, it just seems to fall a little short of greatness for me. However, it is a classic and free on the Kindle and so is well worth a read! The writing of Conrad as always flows along in beautiful prose and you cannot ignore the eloquence of this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Eastern Time Zone, 8 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I know it has been mentioned in other reviews about it being based on the Eastern Time zone. Thankfully, I did not pay the full price that it originally was because it being in a different time zone does affect all the times etc for the moon phases. However, it does come with loads of useful information on the zodiac, different colours for each day, different trees of the month, information on historical figures for certain days - a plethora of information. All I need is this in western time! Well worth the purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missing Words, 8 May 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Ok - I'm gonna get slagged off here: I know its a freebie but this is not the first free kindle e-book that I have downloaded where some of the words are missing. Why does it matter? Well, firstly, by buying a kindle I have paid for this product already; secondly, if a book has missing words then you begin to wonder how accurate the book is and also wonder whether other e-books that you pay for and download will also have similar words missing. If a book has words missing then it should not be available for download, just because it is a "freebie" doesn't mean that it doesn't matter. Having said all that, it is a classic book and well worth the read. In particular of books of this age I like the many facets it gives of how society and behaviour was. No wonder the aristocracy lost out to the bourgeoisie as they were too busy thinking of marriage and "society"!

I was disappointed with this book and found that it tended to drag - you know when you really want a book to just end. Parts of the book were fascinating and extremely interesting - but these were far and few between.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Mouse, 6 Mar. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a fantastic little mouse. I have been using the same one for over 3 years and it is still going strong and so I bought one for a family member. The infra-red tracking device on the base of the mouse allows you to use it on almost any surface whilst the smallness of the mouse is good for use on desks with little room. The only draw-back I have found on this mouse is the scroll wheel on the top. When the mouse is new when you "scroll the wheel" the pressure of your finger sometimes initiates a "click" on the scroll-wheel which gives a different effect than just scrolling. But I have found that after some use this wears off and the wheel works fine. In fact after over 3 years of scrolling every day the wheel still has the grip on it to keep on scrolling - it hasn't worn away. The cable is about 26 inches long so is long enough to plug into the left hand side of your lap top and reach around to the right hand side (or vice versa). The mouse has a good feel to it and the click buttons work perfectly. Although this is a smaller than usual mouse the click buttons are more than large enough but if you have massive hands then you may find this mouse a little awkward to hold - or if you do not have much "sense" in your hands then you may be better opting for a larger mouse. Otherwise this is a fantastic product.

5.0 out of 5 stars They Work!, 6 Mar. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Cable is more secure and quicker than wireless. These are the cables you plug into your modem, PC or hub to allow you to connect to your network/internet. Many printers also come with an RJ45 connection on them as well to allow you to connect to your PC or hub/modem and this is just the cable you need. Yes they are cheap but if you have a clear run between your connections they work just fine. Just make sure that you do not run them near other electrical cables as you may get interference in which case you need cable with more protection from interference - such as shielded cable. I used to make my own cable but at these prices its not worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value, 6 Mar. 2011

If you need a larger cable it could be cheaper to buy this coupler and join two shorter CAT5 cables together - or any RJ45 connections. Excellent value and always useful to have one of these around.
