5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh-I cried, 18 Jan 2007
This review is from: Brithyll (Paperback)
Funniest book I've read in years. Think Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting crossed with Tom Sharpe's daftest moments and you're sort of getting there. The story is basically about some intrepid Welsh scallies who get up to all sorts of mischief fuelled on drink and drugs. The amount they intake suggests that they all have the constitution of a Welsh Black! Coming from the area of Wales that the book is set i.e. North West Wales I can fully recognise with the characters and places. A fine debut from Dewi Prysor. I hope there's a follow up on the way. He better get the mushrooms in though if he wants to beat this....

A wonderful, harrowing tale of life in the West of Ireland in the period leading up to and including the Famine.Superb insight into how the people 'actually' lived during this dark period. A must!
