5.0 out of 5 stars A national treasure, 13 Nov 2013
This review is from: Toast of London [DVD] (DVD)
Toast - I mean Matt Berry - is fast becoming a national comedy treasure. From what I've seen of it on TV this has been great fun; worth it for the brilliant opening credits alone. Episode 3 with the Alan Ford cameo was particularly good. While I'm here can we please have some more Garth Marenghi?!

Bought for my son using my Amazon account, first impressions this is a seriously good piece of kit for the price. Fast, intuitive, great screen and sound. Given it £100 less than Ipad mini it's very, very impressive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eat my goal!, 13 Oct 2011
I haven't even read this and I'm going to give it 5 stars. Why? Because I can. Seriously, Alan Partridge is one of the greatest character creations in all of British comedy and Coogan is the Sellers of his day. I know this will be a fantastic read so might save it for the boring festive holiday that approaches. Luckily Dave are re-showing some old episodes. But what of new material? Steve we need you now in these grim Coalition times. Just caught Cruise of the Gods again on BBC3(4?) and how good it was. It's all in the detail.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best band you've never heard in your life, 18 May 2011
Early output from NZ psych-popsters The Chills, relased on the Flying Nun label. Exceptional writing from Martin Phillips: haunted melodies; reverb Vox organ; great guitar lines; fabulous lyrics. Imagine The Seeds, Television, even early Fall. A truly great band who deserve critical reappraisal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blast off !, 9 Sep 2010
I'm waiting for the day when an American indie-movie director makes a rights-of-passage film starring Michael Cera, calls it American Beat and uses the Fleshtones track of that name on the titles - it's a huge smash and the band get an eight figure royalty cheque. Hell knows they deserve it.

A great band, who've never really got the commercial success they deserve.

This fine compilation of early work is particularly recommended. And they write great instrumentals!

Just bought the gorgeous red one of these and so pleased with it. Looks great, sounds great and so easy to use. What's more it's a British product - and that's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of luck - don't need it !, 29 Jan 2009
Just thought I'd add my two'penneth here and say this is one of the comedy highlights of the decade. Briliantly observed, every detail is just perfect. Holness, Berry, Ayode and co are genius and I wish they'd resurrect Garth soon. Just been watching the underrated Man to Man with Dean Learner again on Virgin on demand and it has rafts of absolute comic genius. Holness's character array is startlingly good - the episode with Glynn Nimron is particularly brilliant. Just wish they repeat Galacticops!
