This guy has everything going for him: his Scottish accent, the boy-next-door look, great material and perfect delivery. This is a comedian you've got to love, no question about it. If you loved him at Live At The Apollo, you will definately not be disappointed by this feature!

2.0 out of 5 stars Only bearable in small doses, 10 May 2013

Ordered the DVD because I loved Jon on "Live At The Apollo" and I'm currently collection DVD's from every standupper that I liked on that show to see more of them.

I'm currently past the halfway mark of the DVD (the fact I'm watching this DVD in parts says enough already) and it's already obvious to me that a. his best material was clearly already featured on Live At The Apollo and b. the guy is only bearable and funny in small chunks of similar length as "Live At The Apollo" and becomes really quite dull over longer periods of time. His "unseen" material is often pretty tiresome and for me quite hard to relate to most of the times. The voices he used in LAtA were in perfect balance whereas on this DVD he's overdoing it frequently, killing some of his good bits. The audience seems to pick up on this lackluster performance too: they're very mellow and Jon doesn't seem to be getting those big laughs he's hoping for himself.

Brian Regan (US comedian) once said that the more obscure the sources of reviews on a DVD cover are, the more likely it is that the content will be terrible. So the fact that there is only one on this cover and that it's from the "Evening Standard" was a dead giveaway too.

If you've seen and loved him on Live At The Apollo, just watch that again and leave it at that. Don't bother buying this DVD, there's really nothing on it that is worth your time or money. All you'll get is a bad taste in your mouth. Two stars for the good routines he does have, but still a long way to go til a five-star release...
