5.0 out of 5 stars Great for your 90s club classics collection., 28 Mar. 2016

Some absolutely brilliant tracks on this little album, most of them in the full 12".
Start with the Happy Mondays. That is enough on its own.
Then if you add in Missing, Inner City Life. Keep on Jumping, Professional Widow, Sing it Back, Big Love and U Don't Know Me you have a whose who of 1990s dance music all encapsulated in one little good value album.

If you want your speakers pulled and extorted to the limit, this is the album for you.
Nothing subtle in this album, just mind altering dub bass.
I blew out s sound system listening to this.
Not all that memorable as an album.
Get your checkbook ready for some new speakers if you buy it.

It cooks.
It will blow out your speakers. Especially the second track. It drives and pulls your bass box to the absolute limit.
My advice is turn the volume down, not up, if you still want your sound system in one piece at the end of it.
I blew my bass box listening to it.
Love it.

Orbital at their best.

Crash and Carry is a superb track. It chugs like a train. It pumps and electronically pulses. Put it through a good sound system and you will hear a multitude of layered electronic sounds fading in and out of the melody. Each one more interesting than the one before.

Philosophy by Numbers is a wonderful slow rave that is abstract in construct. Almost tribal.

Are We hear. Jungle sounds, almost D and B. Pulsates in between the samples with dark intertwined melodies. Takes you somewhere else.

Attached could almost be chill. I Wish I had Duck Feet could almost be an Orb track.

The influences are countless.

Great little album for any fan of Orbital and electronic music in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic and intelligent D and B., 28 Mar. 2016

This is a class album. Melodic and intelligent D and B.

Nocturne is a simply beautiful track. When that bass drops your sound system bathes the room in a richness of sound layers from finger tapping, high fast drum, through melodic mid range piano, to low, diving, reverberating bass. This is the best track on the album. It is simply superb. The track should be better known.

Then there is Break the Silence which is almost classical in flavour, but which then contains clever and innovative rhythmic passages set in between the beautifully melodic D and B like a layered pastiche giving a heads up to D and B influences.

Lovely to just put on the high end sound system, shut your eyes bathe yourself in tracks. . There is enough bass in tracks like Innocence to satisfy a bass head, but enough intelligence to satisfy a discerning melodic D and B collector.

Add it to your D and B collection.

Fantastic track.

Nick's vocal is beautifully melodic. Mark King plays one of his best melodic funk bass lines guesting on this track Though it is not a Level 42 outing it could be. The track is quality. Mark's plays his heart out. He plays a delightful walking base line which flows and ebbs through major and minor, punctuates and syncopates behind the vocal, adding a separate melody and velvety richness. Nice touch when the bass line fades out at the end, like they are still playing, but simply walking away.

This feels like a long forgotten little nugget of talent you will cherish. I urge you to buy this track is you are a fan of either Nick or Mark.

Mark King fans will especially appreciate the playing on this track.

Love this track.

There are some great classical elements in this track. A cool vocal which is laid down with care. The track is well produced, sounds very clean, brings this highly influential track back mainstream yet again. But is it any good?

You see the original needs to be respected. Once you hear the original you know it is music genius. It is a clever track, it is a very cool track, it is a supremely influential track. The original is a down right dirty club track that you can hear coming in the club and cannot wait for. You heart rate goes up. The hairs stand up on the back of your neck. It sings to your very soul and once you have heard it, you are never the same. You could have the original on repeat and never get tired of it.

Indeed, you will love and cherish it in all formats, all remixes and reworkings and you even cherish the tracks that are influenced by it or sample elements of it. There are some seriously good versions of this track out there. Excellent D and B remixes, superb club reworkings that are every bit as good. You know the ones I mean.

So is this rework any good?

The answer is no.

I never play it. I actively avoid playing it.

Why?

This version is very nice. The bass line is nice. The vocal is nice. The electronic string arrangement is nice. It is all very M and S nice.

But who wants a nice ending for one of the top ten most down and dirty influential club track ever?

You want to shout "How dare they!" after the first ten seconds

This sounds like irritating, grating, screeching, digitalised elevator music to me. It sounds like a bad fake.

But then, I'm a dance music purist.

Don't get me wrong I own Clean Bandit's album and most of their remixed singles. They are innovative and cool.

But this track?

Nothing new here, just elevator noise.

Great track. Stuarts off with a syncopated rhythmic bass. Suddenly the track sounds euphoric with organ and soaring vocals. Love the dark sound, samples and innovative elements of drums and vocals that a reminiscent to me of leftfield. Lots of influences to hear in this one.

Melodic D and B. This little EP moves along nicely and the tracks are fun. Some interesting elements for example the computer game sound track influences in the second listing.
