5.0 out of 5 stars best gluten-free pasta around!, 26 Oct. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
love this pasta - it's healthy (just rice and quinoa), has a nice texture (resists well to cooking) & taste and is also more filling than regular rice pasta.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good sum!, 23 Jan. 2012
This is a great edition of Marx's work. The work is presented in chronological order, which is really helpful to follow the way in which Marx's ideas develop. In addition, each 'historical' section is preceded by a short contextualising comment by McLellan which is very helpful indeed. If you are studying Marx a little more in depth, you will be glad you got this book.

More Clarinet Secrets: 100 Quick Tips for the Advanced Clarinetist

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended!, 23 Jan. 2012
I'm still a relative beginner on the clarinet but I've found this book very useful - the kind of tips you wish you'd known since the beginning. (Some of them are quite simple but really make a difference, though many of them are still way above my head.) I recommend it if you're serious about the clarinet and will put the effort into integrating them into your daily practice.

How To Play From A Fake Book
How To Play From A Fake Book

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, 23 Jan. 2012
I really recommend this book to anyone who is looking to learn how to read and play the standards as they appear in a Real/Fake Book. It's very well presented, very clearly explained, and it begins from the very beginning - but then moves swiftly on. (Since you are the one learning, you can take as much time as you like on each bit ;-).) I think you will find it really useful, especially if you also have a Real/Fake Book so you can practice on extra pieces. And it's even fun to go through! Light-hearted but also very practical with very useful tips.

The Discourse Reader
The Discourse Reader
by Adam Jaworski
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful, 23 Jan. 2012
This review is from: The Discourse Reader (Paperback)
The book is comfortable to use and read and the selection of texts is excellent. I was recommended it by my university lecturers and it definitely helps as a starting point and/or as support material when taking a course. The only downside is that some of the texts are non-continuous extracts so if you are not already familiar with the arguments exposed by the authors, you will probably need to refer to the original (complete) versions. But then I guess that's the point of a Reader.

Choral Method: 333 Reading Exercises (Chord Method)
Choral Method: 333 Reading Exercises (Chord Method)
by Zoltan Kodaly
Edition: Paperback
Price: £11.93

2.0 out of 5 stars Not too sure what it's for, 23 Jan. 2012
I was looking for some exercises to practice my sight-reading, and, well I didn't find this booklet helpful - I'm not familiar with Kodaly's method. The exercises are short and simple, and there are plenty of them so I guess they are adapted for beginners (maybe voice, recorder and other melodic instruments?) but I don't recommend it unless you are familiar with the Kodaly method because there is no explanation as to how to use the exercices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference book on Dalcroze's method, 23 Jan. 2012
This is an excellent presentation of the Dalcroze pedagogy. It is written very clearly and very practically and includes examples of exercises that can be done with children of different ages/levels. There is even a short section at the back about improving on your improvisation! If you are looking for a readable reference book about Dalcroze's pedagogy, I think this is a good choice.

Songs Without Yawns: Music for Teaching Children Through Dalcroze Eurhythmics (or Any Method!)
Songs Without Yawns: Music for Teaching Children Through Dalcroze Eurhythmics (or Any Method!)
by Monica Dale
Edition: Paperback

4.0 out of 5 stars sweet and simple songs to use in a Dalcroze-style lesson, 23 Jan. 2012
This book is a collection of children songs for the purpose of teaching music according to the Dalcroze pedagogy. It's very well done - the songs are simple but charming and there's a really handy index at the back of the book which classifies songs according to time feel, major/minor and other useful musical aspects. I wouldn't recommend it to just anybody but if you teach music to children and you are a little familiar with the principles of Dalcroze pedagogy, I think you will really appreciate it.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Other Stories (Barnes & Noble Leatherbound Classic Collection)

5.0 out of 5 stars a warm and solid edition, 23 Jan. 2012
I really liked this book - I'd been wanting to read Lewis Carrol since a while, and thought I'd enjoy the poems as well as the stories so I was looking for a version that would contain much of his work. I haven't read it all yet, but the book is lovely, it's practical to read and it looks fairly resistant. I do recommend this edition as the kind you can read snippets of, come back to, and enjoy the warmth of :-)
