3.0 out of 5 stars Well intended but wanting for clarity, 2 Feb. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The author has boldly tackled an interesting piece of the much larger 9/11 jigsaw which saw the beginning of the new war against Terror, conveniently supplanting US military spending on the Cold War. He has made a valuable and antipodal contribution to the Official Report.

While the author's contribution is well-intended, his style requires certain paragraphs to be reviewed several times in order to assimilate the information. Overall, worthy subject material needing clearer conveyance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved Loads of Money, 7 Jan. 2010
I bought this product because my stand alone DVD Recorder gave up on me. The product worked straight out of the box on my machine (running Windows Vista) with all digital channels loading successfully when plugged into a roof aerial.

The product comes with its own ArcSoft software to watch & record the tv & radio stations. You can also use Windows Media Center (provided with some editions of Vista e.g. Home Premium). ArcSoft has a handy Scheduler to record days ahead and will also burn to DVD from your hard drive.

Note: Arcsoft will record in MPEG format whereas Windows Media Center will record in DVR-MS format so beware if you want to edit recorded material - most video & audio editors will handle MPEG but you will need a special software decoder to handle Micro$oft's own DVR-MS encryption.

Conclusion: Great product for the money. You will pay many times more than this for a stand alone Freeview Box + Hard Drive + DVDR so buying this and using the resources of your laptop or desktop PC makes perfect sense.

10 pieces fuse set
10 pieces fuse set
Offered by Motionperformance - Waxacar
Price: £1.89

1.0 out of 5 stars I was sold a lemon, 4 Dec. 2009
This review is from: 10 pieces fuse set (Misc.)
I ordered this set of car fuses from the supplier Motionperformance/Waxacar. The goods arrived but they were not the same as the fuses pictured. The ones supplied were smaller and thinner than normal car fuses and would not fit properly into normal fuse slots. I would not buy from this seller again. Very poor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bible for weight loss, 5 Jun. 2007
Been there done that, after putting on weight from giving up smoking. If you seriously want to lose weight this book provides the foolproof method without the smoke and mirrors of Atkins Diets etc:

1. Get this book (it's a pocket sized book - you don't need to read it all, just the introduction to get started)
2. Keep a food diary (examples can be found on the web - I kept mine on a spreadsheet)
3. Use the book and the diary to keep a tight track of calories in v calories out (the book is a real education in this respect, also providing information on calories burned during exercise)
4. Then stay below your maintenance calorie level (you can calculate this from the book) and you can't fail to lose weight (I stayed 1000 calories per day below my maintenance weight = about 2lbs loss per week). Even if you consume too many calories one day, do some exercise to take it off the next
5. Some reviewers have downgraded their review of this book because the book provides a calorie count per 100 grams or millilitres of food or drink. However, this is the most foolproof way of calorie counting so keep some scales and a measuring jug handy to take the lazy guesswork out of the equation. Otherwise you will only cheat yourself...!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Photography, 4 Jun. 2006
Okay, so this book is more a collection of briefly narrated colour photographs than page upon page of deftly written mountaineering prose. All the better for it. The pictures in this book surpass anything the best writers could ever hope to convey to the reader about the extraordinary beauty and immense hazards presented by these enchanting mountains. From incredible panoramas to breathtaking summit shots, this book takes you right to the peaks from your armchair.

The photographs of Viesturs' unsuccessful attempts to summit Annapurna encapsulate both the beauty and the risks, for the mountain possesses an infamous reputation: the greatest ratio of fatalities to summiteers. Since this book (Feb 2003), Viesturs has completed his task of conquering all fourteen of the +8,000m peaks but turn to the photos at the rear and you will see why he aborted two attempts at Annapurna, leaving it until last.

Despite being one of the best mountaineers in the world, Ed Viesturs could have quite easily made a living out of photography. His pictures supply you with more to inspire your imagination than any amount of text, albeit that the accompanying text is also well written.

My only criticism is that the correlation between maps, narrative and photographs could have been better in a few places. Nevertheless, the book is still worth every penny/cent/rupee.
