4.0 out of 5 stars good looking shoe, 17 May 2013

would hardly call them a trainer - more like a "deck shoe" - but look good and are reasonably comfortable (although have not walked an great distance in them yet)

3.0 out of 5 stars not an easy read, 17 May 2013

As usual with Mr Self this is not an easy read and I am only about 80% of the way through (Kindle edition)
However the story is gripping if at times confusing - you really have to concentrate to spot the change from one part of the narrative to the next.

All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front
Price: £5.31

4.0 out of 5 stars captures the horror of trench warfare, 17 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
An absorbing, moving read - it does not make any difference in that it is told from a German "boys" point of view.
The horror and the de humanising effects of war are beautifuly illustrated leading up to the inevitable conclusion.

have worked in London for over twenty years and love the thought of a "world below"
Great read and lots of fun.
Parts reminded me of Terry Pratchetts Disc World stories and the hapless Rincewind.

Maybe I just have very stubborn mould in my shower but this stuff was not 100% successful despite repeated applications.

4.0 out of 5 stars I know it's suposed to be a childrens book but it is lovely, 2 May 2013

Have always loved Roddy Doyle books ever since "The Commitments". Enjoy his sense of humour.
This is the first of his childrens books that I have read - it's just as good as his grown up books.
Addresses some pretty serious/sad issues in a sensitive way.
Would not hesitate to recommend this as a good buy for anyone from 10 to 90.

Excellent book and well worth reading or rereading. Also loved the film and cannot read the book without thinking of Richard Burton & Clinte Eastwood in their primes.

Another cracking adventure from the Master - never tire of rereading his books. Ideal commuter fare on my Kindle for my long train journeys.
