5.0 out of 5 stars What a book!, 10 Sept. 2014
This review is from: Elaenorh (Kindle Edition)
What a book!

It is hard to write a review of Elaenorh without giving too much of the plot away so I will focus mainly on character development and structure.

From the get go I knew that I liked the protagonist Elaenor, a young college student in Philadelphia who is something of an individual going about minding her own business not interested in the "normal" aspects of college life, but more fond of the secret texts found in the campus library. What happens to Elaenor next was unpredictable, very well written and brilliantly built up by the author in such a way that separates this book from others in the fantasy/sci-fi genres as authentic and one of a kind.

The level of depth that Vanessa Kittle has put into this work goes above and beyond so much so that she has created not only a brand new fantasy world, but also another language, a history, authentic races and, most importantly for me, unique enemies.

There is also the perfect and daring execution of a mixture of two genres. Without saying too much, the author has joined fantasy and sci-fi within this text and created something truly wonderful that will keep the reader gripped.

All in all this is a great piece of writing, the characters are superbly real, the background is awesome and the text itself holds a very special feel that separates it from other fantasy/sci-fi pieces.

Great job!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Fantasy Adventure!, 12 July 2014
This review is from: Eryan (Kindle Edition)
This was a magnificent read fit for all ages.

Mixed in with an vast array of well structured fantasy themes was a great variation of characters. Carters has written each and every one in such a way that enables the reader to love, remember and most importantly believe in the people... and other creatures... as the tale unfolds. The protagonists, Maria and Tommy, two children from an average upbringing have, as most children do, a tendency to steer towards the unknown and it is this questioning nature that takes them into their mysterious neighbor's house and later to the realm of Eryan and a wonderfully written adventure that will keep you up at night.

This is an excellent start to what I hope to be a long career from this author as I am now a fan of Eryan, Kerloc and, of course my favourite character, Lon-Hi (the talking cat).

I look forward to the next instalment and say again that this book deserves every one of the five stars.

Awesome.

This review is from: The Great Gatsby (Kindle Edition)
This is the first of Scott Fitzgerald's books I've read and I thought it was brilliant. Fast paced and fun. Quirky and humerus. Tragic and intriguing.

The Great Gatsby is a great works that demonstrates the power of living in the past - a dream, but also the brutality that often occurs when several independent circumstances lead to one singular and devastating event.

Written through the eyes of a middle aged bond broker Nick Carraway we get an insight into the lavish and luxurious life of middle class 20th century Americans post WW1.

If your thinking of reading this or have it on your to do list then don't hesitate. You will not be disappointed!
