Hanoi Rocks RIP - Long live Hanoi Rocks! This is the best stuff Michael has done since version 1 of HR. Its all there, the snarls, the poses, the catchy songs, the attitude, the stories. Just great stuff all the way through. Really looking forward to the live shows later in the year!

There's no getting away from it, so I may as well talk about it first. The production on this album is absolutely shocking. The band may wish to describe it as 'modern', but it just sounds like the band are playing in the next room and the bass player forgot to turn up. No amount of mucking about with the EQ can fix it, minor improvement only. Now, this is a shame because the standard of song writing here is pretty good - no surprises obviously, it's still all about the faces circa 1971. And that's really what you want from the Quireboys. The place to hear them is live, their shows are always great. So, next time Spike, forget 'modern' and go for 'classic' production.
UPDATE - On reflection just 3 stars it too harsh - for some reason the download on my iPhone does indeed sound terrible, however the CD has arrived and sounds much better played on a decent system. The real key to enjoying this is to play it REALLY LOUD!!! Sounds great then. Looking forward to seeing them next week.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as ever...., 9 Dec. 2008

This is the four (or maybe fifth) live release from the band and documents the tour following the very excellent "High" album. Most of the material (9 tracks) are from High and the remainder are a smattering from earlier work. There always will be complaints that it doesn't contain a particular favourite track, but I hear that at every NMA gig I go to! I would have really liked "The Hunt" as I thought they played that really well on the last tour, but ho hum. NMA were really on fire on this tour - I was lucky enough to see them twice and this album is a great document of proceedings. The recording is clear, well mixed and mastered and retains the `live feel'. If I'm being picky then the cover art is a bit amateurish, but that is being picky.
If you a looking for a greatest hits package then this isn't it. If you are looking for a great live album by a great live band then buy this now!
