This review is from: The Story of Ferdinand (Paperback)
A children's story to encourage people to have the courage to be different and true to themselves. Said to be Gandhi's favourite story, and to have been burnt under Hitler's orders in Nazi Germany. Lends itself to role play and adaptation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pocket Encyclopedia for Going Green, 10 May 2011
This book condenses the results of an enormous amount of research. After an introduction on how the world got into its current dangerous mess there are chapters on how to make a range of lifestyle issues sustainable (transport, waste, homes, food and more) followed by others on how to take local action. Published last year, the information and practical advice are still up-to-date. I read it as one already converted; it could be a good persuader of people now on-the-fence. It's serious without being hysterical. Linking the big issues to a range of Greek myths looked like a good idea but I found the book informative rather than inspiring or entertaining. There's no index, but it has a very good list of references.

5.0 out of 5 stars Preliminary Comment, 23 Dec 2010
I ordered the book because a friend had referred me to pages where the author comments favourably on Teilhard de Chardin. When it arrived, I checked the index and was happy to see four references to Teilhard. I give it five stars on the strength of what others have said. I will be happy to write a review when I have read the book - try me again in about a year.
