5.0 out of 5 stars Starting to learn french, 8 Dec. 2011
On recommendation bought this for an eight year old who has just started to learn French. It seems perfect in that the vocabulary is contained in scenarios that are easy to see and understand eg In the kitchen, In the park

4.0 out of 5 stars doodles, 17 Dec. 2010
I sent this book back as I felt it was for younger children than I was buying for
I bought the girls doodle books and boys doodle books instead
Its difficult to tell if the book is appropriate for the age until you look at it
The concept is great and all of the books provide hours of drawing for children by providing part of a drawing and asking the children to add their own drawings
Great for wet days, holidays and journeys

4.0 out of 5 stars drawing for kids, 17 Dec. 2010
I have bought several doodle books as presents for children this year
They are better than colouring books and help the children to create their own drawings by providing part of a drawing and suggesting what the child can add themselves
It does not teach any techniques but helps the child to be imaginative
Great to keep the children occupied in the holidays, wet days or journeys
The only down side is there is no real indication of what age group the doodle books are aimed at

5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty of fab dishes, 17 Dec. 2010
This review is from: Plenty (Hardcover)
Having bought and cooked from the previous cookbook I could not wait to buy this one
It is packed with scrumptious recipes that would turn the most ardent carnivore to a vegetarian
I have bought 3 copies and recommended to many friends

4.0 out of 5 stars a delight, 9 July 2010
A delightful book about a young australian journalist going to Paris to stay with a young Frenchman and her observations and
experiences of living in Paris and with a Frenchman.
My Mother and I have read it several times.

101 French Verbs with MP4 Video Disc (101... Language Series)
by Rory Ryder
Edition: Paperback

3.0 out of 5 stars Learning French, 27 May 2010
The book is clearly set out and helpful to a beginner
A section on French verbs, then the verbs page by page.
Its clear for reference
The CD however is dire and barely suitable for a child. The clips are so short its easy to miss them and the martian is irritating

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book, 27 May 2010
As an experienced cook with a huge collection of cookery books the last thing I needed was another one.
I was interested in extending my experience by making cheese which features in the book
Its a gem of a book. Davina is a present day Mrs Beeton but unlike her can cook
Its a comprehensive tome covering everything you would want to cook, suitable for someone learning to cook or the more experienced
If you only have one book it should be this one
